Is it possible for a traction control light to come on and cause errors in the system due to excessively low transmission oil. Or does the traction control have nothing to do with the transmission in that way.

The traction control system is tied in with the engine and brakes.
There's no connection to the trans, so low trans oil would not
cause the traction control lights to come on.

The TCS is pretty much just a controller that sits under the left front fender well and uses wheel speed sensors to run both the traction control and ABS systems. If the light comes on w/o the ABS light coming on as well it is almost certainly a bad wheel speed sensor. The bad news is you have to change the whole wheel bearing assy to swap it out. You can go for a looong time without it and do no harm though.
