Gauge install. NEED HELP!!!

Hey guys, i bought a oil pressure gauge and a water temp gauge and i was talking to a friend who knows cars pretty damn well. he was telling me that instead of going and replacing the sensors with t's so i can install both sensors and whatnot i could just splice the wires off the stock sensors and attach the gauges to that. anyone know if thats true? oh, and its a b16a2 in my 99 si. thanks for your help guys!!! :screwy: :banghead:

yeah, i think thats what most do. just get some soderless connectors from radio shack or something. should be pretty easy.

Only if they are electronic gauges some are mechanical. But yea tap into the wires that go to the sensor, just stay away from those clamp om ones that allow you to not have to cut the wire, if you don't know what I am talking about then reply back and I will try to get you a pic.

as long as you get a properly sized one, why wouldnt they work?

Yea those are teh ones I am talking about, they don't provide a good connection and they actually damage the wire and they are not at the least water proof. They will allow water to get into the connection and corode. The best way to do it is to get the crimp on sleeves and some heat shrink. I am not talking about butt splice connectors rather the metal sleeves and some heat shrink. That will provide a good connection and be water proof. It pays to do it right in the long run.
