Hi everyone, im new here and i would like to ask a question, ive used the search button and ive found some good info but i want to know what you all think personally... i came across this thread which has all the bolt in engine types listed that require no major mods http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=118785 ... which one would you prefer? which would you think would be the fastest? also what additional work or parts would have to be done in order to "bolt in" these mods? thanks alot guys..

doesnt really matter much at this point, if i really want it, ill get the money.... thats not a big factor ATM, but ive been doing some research and i kinda like the sound of the JDM ZC swap, that swap requires nothing but the engine right? althought i would probably get hte zc tranny and ecu as well, what are your thoughts on this swap? and is it pretty quick? like a major difference over a stock si?

ZC is a nice difference over the stock Si, better power than you would get from the SOHC with that amount of money in bolt-ons. :D

IMO, you cant go wrong with either the ZC swap or the SOHC VTEC swap. it all comes down to personal preference. They come out with about equal performance. If you're out to mod it with the basic intake/header/exhaust combination, they're still equal, but once you delve deeper into the internals and cams and things, you'll find that the SOHC VTEC engines have a wider array of aftermarket parts more readily available. Im not saying that the ZC doesnt have any, but you can basically get parts for the SOHC VTEC at pepboys becuase they're so popular being an engine that came out in US cars.

In the end, it all comes down to your preference. I've had a SOHC VTEC, and i personally would like to get a ZC just to check it out, my friend had one in his CRX and it was pretty damn quick.

i dont think it should be up to us what you get cause frankly everyone is diffrent on this for way diffrent reasons. I dont do much driving in the high end of the RPM scale so i would go with the dock zc over the vtec cause well ... yea its my choice.

what you really should do is check out whats in the area locally to you and see whats available remotely. you might want a dock zc but find that its a few hundred bucks of shipping to get it out to you. money isnt an issue for you now, but when you factor in costs of shipping you'll be surprised how quickly that adds up.

alright thanks alot for your opinions... i think im gonna go with the zc, but im still curious as to exactly how "bolt in" this is, and what tranny would you reccomend? i was thinking the zc tranny but ive heard that it doesnt fit perfect on the axles and it leaks fluid.... any insight into this?

if your gonna go with the zc tranny, get one with lsd. nuff said. two wheels spinning means you get more outa engine. other wise if your looking to simplify the swap just use your present tranny cause you dont NEED to switch.

:D

I've had the ZC, so I would probably want to get a SOHC VTEC now if I had to go back to D series.
