Rebuilt tranny and installed an out of round (but new) flexplate. Is it possible to remove without un-buttoning engine? 1971 El Camino 350 ci/turbo 350. I was thinking just need to slide torque converter back towards tranny.
Thanks,
Chad

Sorry, but in order to do it right and get the bolts back to torque specs, you are going to have to slide the tranny back a few inches to have the room you need. Shouldn't take nuch more than a couple of hours. A little word of advice, find somebody that has a tranny jack. It makes the job so much simpler and safer. Good luck!

Thanks Rex... was afraid of that. I don't mind getting under the car... but it is sure a pain in the A$$ to get the top 2 bolts that hold the tranny to the engine. I just imagine what my neighbors think when they see the hood up and my legs sticking out. Must think the El Camino is trying to swallow me.
