Is anyone experiencing constant brakelight outages? I have a 2003 LS. I've seen numerous TB's on the road without brake lights and a sister-in-law with a 2002 that's been in the shop 6 times for brake light repair. Any ideas, solutions, known re-calls,, etc.?
Thanks,
K

Go to your dealer and tell them about the problem...it is common. The will retrofit the brake light circuit boards to prevent this from recurring. This is warranty covered item. DON'T LET THEM JUST REPLACE THE BULBS....MAKE THEM INSTALL THE RETROFITS.
If you don't do this, you won't be able to able to buy bulbs fast enough.

I had just talked to a tech. tonight while dropping off the TB, he says that it's actually the bulb socket that's shorting out itself but we'll have to see what happens....

dont believe everything you read, there is no retrofit kit.
If normal diagnosis of a vehicle leads to a failed tail lamp bulb, inspect the bulb socket to ensure proper fit of the bulb into the socket. If the bulb is found to be loose, or if the circuit board has failed, replace both tail lamp circuit boards with the new part number from GMSPO.
The preferred tail lamp bulb to use is now supplied by Sylvania, P/N 12450108

I have the same problem, the socket does not properly fit any brand of replacement 3157 bulbs. The replacement bulbs will somewhat fit, but the tabs on each side of the socket will not hold the bulb in place, and the bulb will eventually vibrate loose and go out, or begin shorting, as it melted the plastic casing on one of the sylvania bulbs. The only bulbs that fit properly are the OEM factory bulbs.
Will the new board fix this problem?
