engine removal

New to this forum. Glad it is here. Need to replace engine in 2000 sunfire 2.2 L OHC engine with automatic trnasmission. Haynes manual says you need to remove engine and transaxle together. Do you really have to or can you remove engine without removing transaxle? Any tip would be appreciated.

undo engine mounts, electrical and plumbing, and all the other needed bolts, pull and lift, its out

I think that means, no you do not have to remove Transaxle (transmission) along with engine. Right? the engine can be removed alone by unbolting the mounts, rear bolts connecting the engine to transmission and unbolting the torque converter from the flywheel Thanks for your help.
