89 integra head on d16a6?

My friend was telling me that I could put a DOHC zc head on my d16a6.Of of the older integras.he said becouse they are all d series and the blocks are the same is this true?

NO the dohc ZC head will not work on the sohc d16a6. He is right in saying they are all d series but they are not compatible.

i've put an 89 integra head gasket on the bottom of a d15b1 head... it physically fits, but the head bolts dont line up and the coolant passages are like 2mm off.

Its hard but you can get it to work. 4 out of 5 bolts line up perfectly. One bolt you have to drag over and re-drill it, but it will work. Check out the guys at www.d-series.org and go to the DOHC D section. There is a topic on it! IT WILL WORK BUT i think its cheaper to get the dohc zc engine, but whatever. Doing this swap is more time consuming than just changing the engine. But it does work for you non-believers.
