Perhaps a stupid question...

I searched around before I though about asking. Didn't find the info I was looking for, so now I will ask.
I own a 91 LX Sedan with a 5speed manual tranny. My engine has a bent/broken wrist pin and will need replaced. If I order a ZC engine, can I bolt that motor up to my D series transmission and have it run reliably, or do I *have* to swap the tranny at the same time. I want to get my sedan back on the road as quick as possible, to avoid putting to many miles on the new Alero (that and I miss my "Civi") The Alero sucks on gas, and I'm having to fill up every two days as where The Civi can go about a week between fillups. Also, can I use the LX ECU with the ZC engine temporarily, or do I have to swap that now also?
Basically what I want to know is, with the current car, what do I absolutly *have* to change in order for the ZC to work? I'm poor now, and just need the car to last a couple more months before I can afford a new tranny.
Lastly, if I baby the hell out of the D15, will it make the 120 mile trip to work? It clicks like a son of a bitch when its tached, and stalls occasionaly.
Thanks,

Wait, is the DX transmission and ECU the same as the LX?

you can bolt your tranny up to the zc but you just won't get the full power out of it, the ecu on the other hand you will need to change
look for a deal on the full package if you can, ecu-engine-tranny.

Wow that was fast. :D
Do you have any recomending sites for me to check out when looking for such? HMO has the ZC, which is where I've been looking, but not a complete swap kit. ZC tranny does come in cable form, correct?

Ummm i believe the first thing to establish since this is a "stupid question" is if this ZC is sock or dock variety becuase that could mean alot in terms of what you need.
the sock will bolt right in and go. the dock will need an upgraded ecu to take advantage. another thing to consider is what state your in and emitions (sp?) testing. In CA for instance, that dock ZC is not an option unless you happen to know someone who can hook you up.
