Hey gang,
I am quite new to the world of automobiles(fixing them that is) I have just aquired a 1985 Rx-7. Unfortunately I know nothing about it. It starts and runs pretty rough. It will not go over 40 mph. The previous owner told me her son was driving it pretty hard one night and that some sort of spring broke, could this be related to the throttle control? Any idea's? Also where is the best place to get parts for my 85

Thanks for any help.
Chris

www.fcstore.com
www.racingbeat.com
www.nopistons.com
www.mazdatrix.com
www.rotaryextreme.com
www.planetperformance.com
www.fc3s.org

not sure they all have the 1st gens, but I know some of them do though, hopefully that helps, also search google with all kinds of words, do like 10 different searches if you have to, you'll find it eventually

If you're in texas, i highly recomend going to alamo rotary in san antonio, but from what it sounds like, you may want to get the apex seals checked out. It wouldn't be a bad idea to take it to a rotary specialist shop.

Or Rotary Performance (www.rx7.com) up in Dallas (Garland to be exact).

"Some sort of spring broke" and now it won't make it above 40? Sounds like a blown apex seal to me. Rebuild time!
