whats up

im about to install a vacuum gauge in my LS and i need to drill into the firewall to run the vacuum line. wheres the best location to drill through the firewall. i dont wanna screw up and drill somewhere that might have wires running through it or oil lines or any of that stuff. My friend drilled into his firewall and drilled through a set of wires in his car and i dont want the same thing happen n to me.

What you need to do is get a coat hanger and straighten it out. Then look on the firewall were the wires go through and gently push it through there and then attach the line to the end and pull it back through. That is how I use to run wires etc into the engine compartment when I installed car alarms. It will work for the line also, it is small enough

thanx whtteg. i was thinking about do in that cuz i do that with all my electrical wires. i was just worried bout the vacuum line being pinched by the other wires if i use your method which will result in a false vacuum reading. but i'll try it and see if i get n e problems.
Thanx

If you're mounting your gauge on the A-pillar like most this probably wont help, but... There is a grommet in a hole underneath the battery (almost hidden) that has nothing running through it. It's used in Japanese models for the wiring harness since they are rhd. It's a little know trick used by some stero guys. Handy little hole, though.
