I Own A 1998 Bmw 750il. The Power Seat Controls On The Drivers Side Has Stopped Working, Except For Lumbar Control. Also The Steering Adjustment Will Not Work. I Have Checked The Fuse Under The Hood(fuse#15) It Is Fine. Does Anyone Know How To Troubleshoot This Problem?

My Bentley's manual only covers up to 1994 but in 1994 there were 3 fuses that fed the Seat/Mirror/Steering Column Control Module and they were labeled F12 (15A), F16 (30A), and F18 (15A). Remember this was 1994. However, your 1998 probably has more than one fuse to this module as well. Hopefully you won't have to replace the control module. I was having trouble with my memory seats at one time so I looked into replacing this control module. It's under the front seat and costs around $1000. Luckily, my problem was just a dirty switch. Hope this helps.

My kids recently returned my 97 740il with the power seat, steering adjustment, memory not working. After checking all fuses, I removed the plastic panel on the side of the seat. There I found the electrical connection had pulled out of the panel. I put it back in and everything worked again. The kids are still trying to explain how the plug got pulled. Good luck.

Thanks. I'll try that.

Since I made my last reply I found out that one of the fuses for the seats is under the back seat. If your car has the power back seats their removal can be difficult on its own from what I've heard. Good luck and keep us posted.
