help!!! truck vibrates at 180mph

anybody know a good suspension system

Belltech makes a good lowering kit, with decent shocks, etc. Not much help other then that.

I would hope you already had a good suspension system if you're going 180... Unless that was a typo :)

I know your problem. Mine does this too, but I just accelerate past this speed and it goes away at about 200, then I set the cruise and turn up the radio to drown out the sirens. Hard to beat the BellTech parts.

its not a typo and I have upgraded the suspension a little but I dont want to try the accelerating to 200 mph besides I dont think the truck will go that fast YET!!!!!

I have read that Z-28s and Trans Ams have enough front end lift to actually flip them over at these speeds, and doubt an S-10 would get very much past 120 mph or so without similar issues. OK... Now you are showing your age. I have a 355 in my truck pounding out about 430-445 horses and around 490 ft.lbs of torque... My truck is also lowered. I KNOW for a FACT that my truck has run 11.55 in the 1/4 mile. I also know that it would NEVER run 180mph... Your six banger would never run 180 KMH, let alone 180 MPH.

well since most of my power in the truck is top end and since my speedo only goes to 100mph how do you think I found out I was going that fast huh............. simple my friend has a mustang and a corvette he was following me my speedo went all the way around and touched 40mph again and if you still think Im full of shit I supose I could try to get my mechanic to post on here he has a couple NICE rides like a bronco that has a 390 pushin about 700hp and a chevelle pushin at least 1000hp I could try to keep up with his chevelle but I KNOW there is no way I could beat it since it hits 160 mph in the 1/4 oh I know I cannt beat your truck in the 1/4 but do you race in 2 mile strech cuz I would love to show what the truck can do :smokin:

oh and one more thing 6000 rpm rear end 3.08 final tranny gear .76 tire size 27.4 according the the calculators that means my top speed should be 208mph but you couldnt pay to go that fast in my truck 180 is way more then I need that and I think the calculators are wrong I think maybe 185 tops and Im not looking for friends just help if I could and maybe get a little help

if you are going that speed it is probably that your engine rotating assembly is not balance well enough for those speeds especially at 6000rpm. I would like to see this setup pics and details if it is V-6. I actually have built a 383 MPI for my S-10 pushing 500-520HP and 560 pounds of torque (all natural right now). Waiting on exhaust will post when done.

That shit is funny. With the aerodynamics and weight of the S-10, you would need about 600hp to do 180. And if you picked up a vibration at that speed it would probably send you off the road. I think it's more likely that you fell asleep with a vibrator up your ass and just dreamed the entire thing.

well guys I dont know what to say about the race with this saturn do you mind if I trailer it down there cuz I only get like 8mpg and will you only race a V-6 or should I throw a V-8 in it which would make you feel better about lossing to and since the closest dyno is about 85 miles and charges $150 that I would rather spend on my truck I would dyno it if I could find some one stupid enuff to race me for money but everybody is cheap around here and noby whats to race a 2 mile stretch on the roads I like driving the ones with the tight curves the only guy I know that would race me the way I want to race for money drives a camaro with a big block and that car is way to quick for my truck but if I ever get $150 to spare I want to put it on a dyno oh and keep the insults up I find them funny

i too have had my truck going 180mph maybe even a little more, but, it was on REALLY REALLY slick black ice and i was only moving about 10mph. i did not, however feel an yshaking at that speed, so it's not because the car is unbalanced. what engine are you running? it'd take a hell of a lot of power to get you truck up that fast, my truck has trouble at 85 in fifth. it is stock though, so what could you expect.

Actually, it's not called math, it's called aerodynamic physics. You don't just need the the axle ratios and wheel diameter to allow you to hit that speed, you also need enough power to push your vehicle through the atmospehere at that speed. It is hard enough in a sportscar which is designed for it, but when you try it with a truck which is the aerodynamic equivalent of a brick, you hit a wall at about 140mph, and you will need to almost double your HP output for every 10mph you pick up from there, and the equation is a curve so it gets worse as you go faster. Let's say with 300hp your truck will do 150. You would need 500hp to do 160, 750hp to do 170, and almost 1000hp to see 180. Don't believe me then pick up a physics book, but unfortunately it might have big words in it that you might not actually find in the dictionary.

This is my old truck, made 295 rear wheel hp on the dyno with the nitrous switched on (approx 330 flywheel), and I couldn't tell you the top speed because I honestly didn't care. I can tell you it did a 12.21 in the 1/4 mile at 117mph though (on slicks, road tires were useless). Fast enough.

Around where I live we don't have a cliff high enough to get an Sdime to 180 before it hits the ground.

ok here's the thing, a NASCAR engine produces approx. 750 hp and they are able to do 200mph, now i know this is a car and everything, but it kinda throws your theory out the window. I do know about aerodynamics and physics due to the fact that i am an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer and i work on airplanes for a living. Although i will admit that 180 mph is probably being exagerated a little, but i know my pick-up will do 144 mph with 3:42 rear end and a whole 4x4 drivetrain to contend with, and that is not exagerating one bit.
