Bypassing PASSlock I or II

I have a 2002 Grand Prix SE 3.1
Car stalls immediatley after starting, and security light flashing
Anyone know how to bypass PASSlock so I can get my car running and take it to dealer at a later time to be reprogrammed
not sure if it's passlock I or II

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Well that is funny. Whatever version of the passlock would really disengage the moment the key is on the ignition. Try removing the fuse, if it does not work then tow it to the dealer. To me looks like it is a BCU issue.

removing the fuse is a good idea, also i was told to be sure the passlock part is very clean and not chiped up or pieces broken off, so that could be another reason

The same symptoms happened to my car yesterday, and after researching passlock I was able to find out how to get the car to start.

First, go ahead and try to turn over the engine. (It doesn't even engage does it?)
Leave the ignition switch in the "on" position after trying to start the car for more than 10 minutes.

Turn the switch to "off", wait a few seconds and then try to start the car.

This worked like a charm for me...

If that doesn't work for you it is probably not the passlock system and is probably something to do with the starter itself. (Assuming you have already covered checking the battery and the battery connections that would definitely keep the car from trying to crank up...)

I was just happy that I got my car to start this morning and shared what I did for anyone else that viewed this particular thread... Unfortunately it did not solve my problem for good. The car failed to start after driving it a few miles down the road to a local store and the trick didn't work the second time so I entered a new post / new thread.

Do you know much about the Grand Prix Passkey III?

Yup. The ironic thing is that Passlock was never used on the G-Prix platform. It was VATS that was first used up until the '95-'96 year. From then to '08 it was PK3 which is a transponder based system. Most common failures with a PK3 system are a faulty ignition switch, faulty PK3 transponder, or faulty PK3 igntion key.

On the PK3 system, there isn't any known 100% failure proof way of disabling the system.
