I just had the tranny rebuilt in my 1971 El Camino, and when installing it used a new flexplate. The flexplate, turns out, is warped. Is there a way to remove the flexplate without unbolting the tranny? I was thinking I could probably just slide the torque converter back and get at it. Anyone ever done this?

The tq will not push back far enough. I did this kind of crap at a dealer when I worked there. Replaced crank in car, pushed tq back but had to remove the flex plate with the crank... When you are flat rate you'll cut corners wherever you can. If you are doing this at home on the ground by all means pull the trans so we don't read about you being pinned under the gearbox!
