Just going down the road and it quit on me, could it be the fuel pump? If so are they in the tank and is it hard to change yourself. :screwy:

uhh are you sure its the fuel pump? and yes they are in the tank. and yes they suck very much ass to change. i had a 91 firebird that the fuel pump went out of. 1 take the exaust off at the catalitic converter. 2 take the rear axle loose, there are either 2 or 3 crossmembers that hold it in i cant remember exactly. 3 plan on breaking the bolts off in the rubber bushings that hold those cross members, special order from gm only :) 4 unless you have jacked the back end of the car up considerably the fuel tank is a pain in the ass to take out. the filler neck is solid not big rubber hose like most.

Before you go tearing out a fuel pump and start hating your car turn the key to the on position and you should hear the pump turn on. If you don't then ok get drunk. But if you do hear it then work your way up. If you have the 305 take the air cleaner off and have some one try to turn the motor over, if you see fuel going into the TBI then it's not a fuel problem. Start with the fire problem. Check the plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and coil. It's gotta be in that area. If not check your ignition switch and your lock cylinder, those could pose a problem as well. If none of that works get out your pappy's shot gun. no..just come back on here and we'll help you out.

well didn't have much time today, but I did turn the key on, heard the fuel pump and smelled the gas. So I'm going to start looking at other things

um, thread title says it wont turn over, and wont fire. thats electrical, not fuel. if its not turning over at all, and the battery isnt dead, then its your ignition switch, or yout starter motor. or the wiring in between.

I may have messed up the thread, it will turn over, I hear the fuel pump and smell gas, so it does seem to be electrical, could the fuel filter plug enough to cause the problem, its a 3.1

check spark, pull a wire and have someone turn the motor over, does it shock the crap out of you? You said you smell gas, is it leaking? filter could plug up that much but it wouldnt be all of a sudden, it would be gradual, running badly, no power. If you get no spark start the easiest place like 92 rs said cap/rotor if you have no spark on multiple wires thats best place to start, next would be coil. Heres just a thought, check ecm fuses?

I would not suggest letting the coil just shock the piss out of you..... IT SUCKS and it's dangrous. Put a spark plug in the wire and ground the spark plug to the block. I would check your ingnition module.
