E300 2.8 cold start problem

I know this belongs in the benz forum and it is but its dead over their. And the car still is not starting.
My parents 1993 E300 2.8 would not start this morning its very cold out a little above or below freezing. When I try to start it it makes a whining sound like it want to start. It sounds like the starter is turning over so I dont think its that. Also I think the batterie is fine. So any ideas?
