oh, that last one was twords team otr.
There is one ford tranny that will work on a YB fwd successfully.. name it.
You bore out a YB to 2.2L. Gimme measurements. Many tuners have a helluva time going past 2.1L for racing, I just want to match your numbers with real numbers.
What year is the block, and how do you manage to get 137hp out of an engine that is modified vs the NA which produces 140 stock.
Oh, if you dont want to answer any of the above questions, atleast tell me what is the transmission code that you used. That will tell me everything since I know the entire headache of modifying a complete mazda subframe to allow ANY YB to just sit inside without thumping over the crossmember at 4k rpm and tearing the car a new asshole.

dangit....
I've got a 1995 Escort LX Wagon, and I feel embarrassed now. :(
But I can say that finally, in a few weeks, I will have completed it's transplant and will have significantly more than 137whp going on. :)
fun stuff.. BPT engine w/ N/A BP head, haltech E6K, high-volume walboro 255 L/hr fuel pump, starion/conquest FMIC, 2.5" mandrel exhaust, freshly rebuilt tranny, Ford Racing ZX2 S/R coilovers, OffTheLine Motorsports front/rear lower tie bars, GTX front strut brace, B&M short-throw, and a custom made camera mount for track days. :)
still waiting on delivery of a few of the items, but they should be arriving here within the next few days...
ok, i don't feel so embarrassed anymore..
I CAN say that at BlackHawk Farms raceway last year, at a high-speed driving school, with my whopping 88hp 1.9L SEFI CVH engine, I pulled 3rd fastest lap time. The guys that beat me were in a WS6 and a corvette... the guys that didn't were spec miatas, neon ACR, Porsche 911, Mustang Cobra R, Datsun 280Z's, ......
(of course, it was raining out, and most of those guys were in rwd cars.. it's kinda like cheating, but hey, a win is a win!)

Since I can bitch, I may aswell shout out to my car too.
When my escort was street legal and before I tore it appart completely it wasnt to bad. Ghetto mods, but were not talking duct tape and cardboard.
99se that I experimented with fuel economy more that ponies.
Before the transformation.
2.0 SPI(of course)
2000 focus valve cover(little higher, maybe helped cooling. I destroyed the original by OVER polishing it, whoops)
MSD coilpack, 11mm magnecore self made spwires. Denso IR plugs. 64mm throttle body. Played with the head at work(worked in a macshop for a while) and polished the intake(useless). CAI made of 3" copper pipe from home depot with a SB conefilter(this was before anyone made even zx2 intakes)
1.9 HO headers with NGK IR o2s. Hybrid 2" to 2 1/2" back to 2 1/4" pipe w/ mandrel bends to eidelbrock solid weld muffler. Silla OEM alluminum replacement radiator with Summit front mounted tranny and oil coolers. Optima Redtop battery going to a rebuilt 135amp alt on silicone insulate 2 "g wire with gold terminals. Manual Powersteering from 323.
Removed Stereo, dampering, a lot of other crap here and there. Mounted seats 2" back with miata seats to save space and weight for only $60(my fav mod.) cut out the rear tire well, replaced with 1/8th aluminum. *functional Coated Plexiglass rear windows.
Some generic lightweight 15" rims with the first series of ziex falkens. Monroe sensa struts.
Stock computer with upgraded eeprom and cat adjustments. IAT control tap.
Yeah, sounds ghetto.. but there were a few months in 2000 that I was unemployed and bored. The engine bay looked ugly as hell, but nothing was out of place, and I learned a lot about eec-v wiring thats to it. I got her weighed but never dynomometered when she was at her climax. All the modifications done for MPG added up in performance very much so. Maybe configured and after fresh liquids I could say MAYBE near 170hp, and I could get it to run slightly 500 miles on a tank. If i drove in stop and go allday, I can average close to 40mpg(sometimes better, depending on a lot of things), and that was where I was happy. If you do the math, vs the 28mpg average, and if you travel 20,000 miles a year, most upgrades pay themself off easily. Esspecially when you dramitically increase the life of the car.
Right now my escort is in 1000 peices collecting dust. Everything I had on it is sold, and basically will never be street legal again. So deep down I miss my slow escort that was bulletproof and more than enough for everyday needs.
Now I have as my daily driver a volvo 850 T5R, and a 1990 geo metro with a g16b dohc inside. NEITHER are as fun as the scort was.
www.escortracing.com Enjoy that scort, make it live forever, and give it some more kick. Thats for the guys who arent there allready. Im not arround anymore... but I can allways remenis about the old scort. :D

This post has gotten a little off topic. The original question was, what is the fastest Escort on AF. So far we two people making big claims to haveing fastest Escort, but neither of them have come though with any kind of proof to back up there claims, no pic's, no slips..just talk.
rileyescobar claims to have: "94 4-dr h/b with a 2.0 zetec, hks t-51r turbo, aem programmable engine management system, all wheel drive swap out of a mazda 323 gt-x,and a 3inch cat-back custom ehhaust into an obx type r muffler." Than later changed his mind and said he has the "AWD tranny set up out of a UK spec Escort 1.6".
Team otr claims to have: "95 Escort Wagon automatic tranny with a standard 2 liter cosworth (turbo removed) bored out to 2.2 liters with custom-made spoon pistons with full alcohol injection, dc sports header."
Both of them manage to dodge any questions about posting some pic's of there ride.
So how about it guy's? where the pic's?

...... Ford Racing ZX2 S/R coilovers, ....
umm the S/R doesnt have coil overs, its a spring/strut combo, and its Eibach springs w/ Tokico struts
and the guys that said mazda and ford dont use the same drive trains at all, the Mazdaspeed Protege and Zx2 have the same tranny (G5M or G15M same thing diff syncros) the ony difference is they put a LSD in the MSP.
and i have HEARED that if you disable the rear wheel drive a 323 awd tranny will fit in the car

I have a 92 egt... Doesn't look like the nicest car on the road, but its got some mods...
1.8l n/a motor
4feat trans w/ cooler
yamex springs (1.75 drop) on tokico's
unorthodox crank pulley
ngk(i think, all in japanese) 10mm wires
ngk plat plugs
k&n cone with custom intake
pacesetter header w/ borla exhaust
205/50-15's on old school amer racing wheels (came off another car of mine)
accell (massive in size) coil & ignition amp
I'm sure theres more, but its 3am... soon to have a bpt....
got pulled over and ticketed for doing 129 in a 65... cop said i was doing 142, but wrote me for 129, since 130+ is felony wreckless...

Ok. Looks like I am getting in OK. I have a 1995 Escort Wagon with the 1.9L motor. I bought it new back in 95 and have had it about 9 1/2 years with 175,000 miles on it. I recently started to look at ways to improve the performance and the gas milage on the wagon. My first modification was to the air intake system. I looked at a lot of aftermarket air induction systems but they cost way to much ( some from $100.00 to $250.00 ) and they all did the same thing increased response adn HP by allowing more air to the motor. I took apart the stock system to see what I had. The plastic tube feeding the intake looked big enough as did the surface area of the air filter. The bad news was that little tube in the bottom of the air filter box where all the air had to get in. I took out the lower box section and drilled 1 inch holes in it to allow a lot more air to get to the filter. Yes the intake noise is a little louder now but the response from the motor is great. It did make a big difference that you can actually feel in the motor. Do not knoe how much it added but this mod sure was cheap with just my time. ( about 30 minutes ). If I want to now I can always add a K&N high flow filter or Fram Air Hog if I want to since the factory filter is still in place.
COST = 0
TIME = 30 MIN
IMPROVEMENT = GREAT
Catch you later with more mods.

Jeff thanks for the info . I forgot about the uppercase. Now for another mod.
My exhaust system was stock and still working fine but I figured it had a lot of restriction. I starting looking for another muffler that had less restriction. The big chrome tubes were nice but here locally kinda high in price. I could have ordered one off the internet cheaper but I was afraid it could be a little loud for my taste. I ended up looking at Autozone and found they carry a cherry bomb 2 turbo muffler for about $20.00. It is not a glass pack but just a low restriction muffler. I cut off my stock unit and replaced it with turbo muffler. When I cranked up the motor I found the exhaust was still very quiet. The only difference in noise I noticed was on the interstate where I could hear just a little rumble. I am very pleased with the performance increase with the muffler. The low end torque has come up some and has helped the gas milage slightly. I can still listen to tunes and not have to crank up the volume as much to get over the exhaust noise. I would recommend replacement of the stock muffler as it is easy to do and will help performance.
Cost : 25 to 30 Dollars with adapter, clamps and hangers.
Time : 2 hours working easy
Improvement : Great worth the effort
More mods to come

If it's idea's your looking for, there's allway's:
1st gen HO header.
SuperChip or Diablo Performance Chip.
Pacesetter's 2 1/4" cat back.
DBR Under drive pully.
Cone filter.
Cam.
3.8 or other larger Ford Throttle Body's.
Head work.
Manual steering rack.
Remove A/C.
Best mod so far is to swap the 1.9 for a 97 motor, instant 25% increase in power.
Bolt on's just dont add as much power as every one thinks.
If you really want to add power, then go turbo or N2O.

and i have HEARED that if you disable the rear wheel drive a 323 awd tranny will fit in the car
Wow, I wish that I'd read this like a year ago. lol!!
Ford DID make a limited production (250 units if i recall correctly) of a coilover setup for the ZX2. They used Dynamic Suspension inverted damper struts, and Hyperco springs.
http://www.sharkpork.com/albums/FRS/aaa.sized.jpg
Sure the part number of the tranny is the same. but the bellhousing is completely different, the do not just swap back and forth.
And sure, the 323 tranny will fit in a BG chassis, but on a YB engine? why bother? And why disable the AWD? It's just a pin that locks out the rcenter diff. Or, you could take the whole center diff assembly out, and make a blocking plate to cover the hole in the case, but why not just spend 250 bucks at a junkyard for a tranny from a protege or an escort GT? same bellhousing bolt pattern, FWD only.
it's hilarious to see some of the stuff that people claim, it just cracks me up.
Oh, my dyno sheet came to 173.3whp, and 172.5lb-ft of torque. fastest 1/4 time (before I broke an axle) was 14.509 @ 96.7mph. first time ever to a dragstrip. :) Blackhawk Farms Raceway, single-lap time-attack, from a standing start, was 1:30.875.

The internals of the tranny's might be the same, but a Mazda motor will not fit the same bell housing bolt pattern as a Ford motor.

K I'll set the record stright. I spent two years of my life in London (England) Two years of which I've seen some crazy escorts. Cossie does have a nice car but you'd e better off with a four wheel drive RS turbo. (Take a look at Performancefordmag.com for a good look.) Same performance and a lot more arfter market parts. While there I was the proud owner of a S1 RS turbo, ugly MoFo but it got the job done.
As for the orginal post I have one kick ass scort. Its a 94 Gt with one of them there crate engines from our friends at Ford. SVT style with some Cossworth pistons. 12:1 (Dont ask cost) Many up grades to other areas too. Keep in mind this has been two years in the making!
And before any body here jumps on my back and starts hailing turbos, this is a Class C rally car. Two wheel drive and NO BOOST!
The car lost is road legal status the day I bought it. I has a full six point cage, six point belts and "If its not making it go, its not there" Took out all possable weight and put in steel door panels. For pertection. Under construction is a fiberglass hood and fenders.
Now for the good stuff, numbers!
It will pull a 12.4 at the track with 1.1 gs on lat skid path and will stop from 60 in a short enough time to put the harnas to good use.

You have some explaining to do. A (US) 91-96 Escort GT is basicly a Mazda Protegé, but with 2 doors and a Ford emblem stuck on the grill. So your 94 GT has a Mazda motor, tranny, electronics and even the chassie. So why (or how) would you replace the Mazda Protegé motor with a Ford crate motor? And why would it have cossworth pistons, would'nt they be made for low compression since the YB motor is turbo? Why would some one change low compression pistons into high, would'nt it be easy just to start from scratch?
If you wanted a Ford motor instead of a Mazda, then why even start off with a 2ng gen GT? Would'nt it of been better to start with a 1st gen Escort since they were actully made and designed Ford?
Why dont you go ahead and post some pic's of your 12 second SVT/cossie Escort for us.

Right you are, since you dont really understand I'll help.
One its not hard to make your own motor mounts and its not that hard to pull a tranny from a Focus. Then you take the engine, mount up the tranny then put it in the car. Then you go get some custom shafts and your on a roll.
Second is really good news. Cosworth (http://www.cosworth.com/pistons.php) will make you any spec piston you want all you have to do is fill out this handy little form. (Why would I use used YB pistons when I can get my own made up.)
As for the computer its a stand alone unit with laptop hook up for changing maps.
You even seem to miss my point when I said that it was built for rally.
And last but not least I wont give any pics because this is a purpose built comptition rally car not a toy to show off. You dont give out your speed secrets to just any crack on the net.
If you want to know what it looks like look at a 94 Gt and picture it without any interior and OZ rims.

I under stand what you mean, I have a purpose built comptition pro drag Escort, it run's 7's in the 1/4 mile with just a pair of slicks, and a small block chevy air filter. But I cant prove it by posting pictures or give away the other secrets, then the compition would steal my idea's and I'd loose.

Cool. Its a tricky sport racing. I have to say that out of all the ford engines i've seen the SVT has been the most impressive. Theres a tone of enginering thats gone into it. I have to give props the the boys at Ford for this one.
Another thing I forgot to mention was that when I did do my track testing I was on a set of Michelin off-Roads. I'm going to pick up a set of Asphalts so Ill try again.
We finaly got everything done engine wise yesterday and so far we are pushing 310bph without a restricter plate.
