searching for the right ecu upgrade...

I have been looking into the different ecu upgrades available for my max, a 97 auto. I have found that there are 3 options. The JWT upgrade which has been reviewed by many people and seems to be a good choice, atleast as good as uprd, but I don't know if I like the rev limiter being raised, and with the max, it seems like pushing to 7000 won't really help at all. Next is the JET upgrade which sounds too good to be true. It is inexpensive(about $310 from revolution tuning), and for the first time ever, they will actually upgrade my 97 ecu and not a 96 ecu that doesn't work perfectly with the 97. However, I have never read anything good about it except from the distributers' ads, and although I have not read abything posted by owners of the mod, it seems highly unrecommended. Does anyone actually know what kind of problems are associated with it? If I buy a second 97 ecu and upgrade one, will a swap back to the stock ecu fix these problems?I don't know. Finally, the uprd upgrade, is now available through a company called technosquare (technosquareinc.com) for about the same price as the jwt, and I thinik that they leave the rev limit alone.
I purchased a 96 ecu and put it in my car. when the car is not moving in park or in drive, the car revs from 500 to 1000 or so and stays for about 5 -10 secs and then back to 500 rpms. then repeats this about 15 seconds later. Does anyone know why it does this or if this sounds like a reaason not to use the 96 ecu? I didn't get a check engine light. Other than that the car seems to drive fine.
If the 96 ecu is really as good for the 97 as people say, I think that I would go to technosquare without a doubt.
Any comments on this would be "greatly" appreciated.

--btw--anyone with a 2002-2003 max, the technosquare ecu upgrade for you looks really good!

Well I have a 95 JWT modified ECU on my 96 Maxima and I haven't had that type of problem. Although I guess it could be different in your case since, as I understand it, there is no available ECU mod for 97 Maximas unless using a 95-96 ECU and by doing this you should get a Check Engine light. This is only what I remember having read browsing around some web pages.

i have the technosquare ecu. i have a 97 maxima thats a manual. all i did was match the transmission with the 96 ecu. I sent it off to technosquare, got it back a few days later, plugged the new ecu in and it works like a charm. it was a great mod.
i dont understand all the revs going up and down thing. but if you havent bought an ecu yet for an upgrade just make sure its a 96, match your transmission, and i matched my trim too.

thanks, I will probably go with the technosquare upgrade. I did already get a 96 ecu and it had the problem that I specified earlier. I will probably get another ecu then, it wasn't too expensive, and just try again. I haven't heard of anyone else with that problem so hopefully I won't have it again. So how is the upgrade? are you satisfied with it?
