2003 Tahoe WONT RUN.

My parents have a 2003 Tahoe with 22k miles on it. Lately it has been stalling, not bad but every once in a while when you excellerate too fast. But last night was by far the worst. A 30 min drive home took an Hour and 45 min. The car stalled at least 15 times. What happens is that the car will start and then about 5 min later it will bog out and basically just kill itself while going. NO ENGINE SERVICE LIGHT comes on either. Which is strange cause i would think it would throw a code. I tried keeping it in second gear and holding at about 3 grand but it still died. And it would take about 30 seconds of driving at about 1500 rpms then it would die. Oh yeah its the 5.3 V8. I believe it is almost definately lack of air, or lack of fuel. After the engine would stall it would take about 2-3 minutes of turning the key and pumping the gas for it to start again. I looked at the air filter, it was fine. I listened when i turned the key to On and the fuel pump was working cause you can hear it pump fuel up into the fuel rail. IM stumped and my dad is contemplating selling it and buyin a ford. If anybody could help me in identifying this problem, it would be extremely helpful.

Try the Fuel pressure regulator, my neighbour had similar problem that was fixed by replacing the FPR.

Just thought id let all know. Chevy called about the Tahoe, and it was a faulty fuel pump. 22k miles and fuel pump goin out? sounds kinda sketchy to me. But oh well full warranty. Thanks for the help.

Hey Badboy,
you may know, but some out there don't. It is real hard on a fuel pump to run around with less than a quarter tank. Running less than this can make the pump overheat and is hard on the armature and bearings in the pump. Just a little heads up.

Thanks racinrex. But the tahoe stalled again today on the way to the airport. I was pissed. Back to the dealership it goes. They are gonna search all weekend for the problem. i also mentioned the FPR to him he said he would look at it.
