Question Re Decals: not a very smooth result...

This question has haunted me for years... when I lay down a decal and smooth it out, even after drying, the surface of the decal is never glassy smooth like the surface I am applying it to. Is this normal? I don't think the roughness is very thick, so I intend to clearcoat over the decal and then polish, but I know some of you guys don't polish over decals. Which makes me wonder if I'm doing something wrong... because I would never consider my decal jobs to be showcase worthy after only laying down the decals. Do you guys see this same roughness, or am I missing something in the decal process? Thanks in advance.

that is normal if you do not use microsol or micro set....try using these products and you will be very pleased with your results....Raymond wrote a very good tutorialfor this in the how to section

Decals are not normally real glossy even with the proper setting solutions. The only way to get a hi gloss ,is to over coat them. They should however have a little sheen, but not much.

This is exactly what I have. I do use Set and Sol, so that wouldn't be the problem. I guess what I'm getting is normal. Thanks!
