The Group Buy has now ended. Thank you for everyone's interest and for making it such a success!
Ladies and gentlemen,
Welcome to AF's very first global group buy!
With a reach to 2.5 million automotive enthusiasts monthly, we are able to offer you the lowest prices.
Coilovers
Sample products:
http://www.automotiveforums.com/img/cs1.jpghttp://www.automotiveforums.com/img/flex1.jpg
TEIN Coilovers are the top-of-the-line in the industry and are used by many race teams as well as hardcore enthusiasts. They have a satisfactory ride feel on the road and perform great on the track. TEIN Coilovers are engineered and manufactured in Japan.
After doing some research, I have decided to purchase the TEIN FLEX Coilovers with EDFC for my 2003 Nissan 350Z. Let's use this model of TEIN Coilovers for sample pricing discounts. Part # DSP26-6UAS1 and retail is $1860. Please keep in mind that most of TEIN Coilover sets are not this expensive.
For available models and retail pricing, please visit TEIN Website : http://www.tein.com/prices.html

EDFC
http://www.automotiveforums.com/img/edfc.jpg
EDFC (Electronic Damping Force Controller) makes it possible for the driver to control the damping force by controlling a motor installed in the shock absorber while being seated in the driver's seat. Since the damping force can be manually controlled with ease to meet different situations, the driver can enjoy variations in the suspension setting.

1. Full Name
2. Address

4. TEIN Part # (Please see http://www.tein.com/prices.html for available applications)
5. Credit Card number and expiration
Please note that your credit card will not be charged until the group buy is closed, at which point final pricing schedule is determined.
We will start with a hypothetical deadline of February 1st for this group buy. But we would like to remain flexible in case we get more than enough orders before the date or are very close to getting to the next pricing bracket.
Once you have placed an order, please post a reply to this thread. I will also be posting periodical updates on totals.
Many people have already joined on this group buy
Spread the word! The more the merrier :)
UPDATE:
I see that many are waiting to order until they see that many others will join them. Let's make this a bit more efficient :)
If you have any interest in any of the Tein products that we are offering in this group buy, please go ahead and call in to HPH with your information. If, by the deadline that we set for the group buy, not enough people had signed up for you to receive the discount you desire on the coilovers or springs, you can always cancel your order without obligation (MUST be before we make the bulk order, which will be widely announced and you will not miss it). Doing the GB this way has a significant advantage as more and more people will be signing up the more they see have already signed up. I just wanted to note that there is no minimum for people to receive 20% off retail, which is still significantly cheaper than anywhere else I have seen. However, I am certain we will not have trouble getting a solid number of buyers for even cheaper prices :)

i am willing to sign up for this, but only if there is a good following, 20% is nice, but 30% is what i'm after. i'm sure that there are many others that feel the same way i do, so drop a line if you are interested. i'm highly interested in this offer, however i'm not about to commit until i see some more response.

What if the coilovers for my car are "in development" on the price list? Do I still quailify? How would that work?
If it I can't participate in the coilovers I am considering the springs. My main thing with that though is they only drop the car 0.9R and 1.2F. That doesn't seem like much... Would I really notice any difference?
What is the advantage of the coilovers vs. springs, other than the fact that coilovers are adjustable?
Thanks and I hope to be able to participate.

Coilovers that are in development will not be available in this group buy.
The springs not only provide the drop but change the stiffness of your car - for the most part Teins will make your car stiffer and track friendly.

few questions coz i might be interested.
i want the SS-P, will it make my ride stiff? coz i dont want the stiff ride. just to lower it with better handling and ride comfort.
when will the groupbuy be over? i definitley want one but i dont have the money RIGHT NOW.
is the SS-P also good for freeway driving? coz am on the freeway 90% of the time.
thanks in advance.

It's a shame they don't have anything for my car. The only Ford they seem to support is the Focus.

Tein is good stuff man, if that's how far they've chosen to lower your car with those springs, it's because that's the height that works best from their experience. If you're asking if you'll notice the difference in looks, IMO a nice 1-1.5 lowering to remove wheel gap looks way classier than slamming a car on the ground, not to mention looking more performance oriented, because it is.

It will be stiffer, yes, but that's a given with any aftermarket suspension. Being a true coil and matched damper setup designed for track and street use, this is probably the least bouncy of any type of aftermarket suspension. It will serve you well for daily driving on the freeway, and when it's time to do some cornering too. You're not gonna find a better handling setup that's still as comfortable as this for the same price. I only pray I can get my money together in time to join this deal.
Hope that helps some of you with your decisions.

The last day for group buy has not yet been decided. I was thinking around the 1st of February, but it may change.
Please call Drew Kung at (859) 255-3142 if you wish to put your name on the list. Again, you can get out of the group buy so long as it's before all the products are ordered, and that will not be happening for a while. When it does however, I will provide the date ahead of time so everyone who may want to bail knows about the deadline.

ArideII, the coilovers offered here arent the sleeves that fit over your stock struts, these include the whole thing. So you basically will get the springs/dampers(struts) and i believe that all the coilovers are height adjustable but some of them you can adjust the softness or stiffness of the dampers.
igor, this is a stupid question but these prices dont include shipping do they!? If not, where are they going to be shipped from? (just to give me an idea of how much i might be paying total) Thanks.

Shipping is not included in the above prices. Shipping will be from Lexington, KY at a flat rate of $45 anywhere to 48 states. Sales tax will be added to orders coming from Kentucky.
i aRe reAd go0d! :-P
...Anyways, I've decided to get a better job so I can make more $$$ and buy some quality wheels/tires later, instead of no name crap.
So I'm most likely in on this one :) I'll be calling to place an order for a Tein SS within the next few days.

how much for the Flex on the WRX? on www.gruppe-s.com they have listed non sale as 1595 that means that with a 20% sale it would be around 1295, can you beat that? I'm just curious because if you can i'll buy these most likely, other wise i can wait.

Christian,
The FLEX for the WRX will be 20% off $1740.00 which is $1392. This is the worst case scenario. If we get 20 people to order coilovers, and I am certain we will, then your price will be $1305.
I am not understanding your fuzzy math behind the $1295 number - why are you taking 20% off their price?

What is the advantage of the coilovers vs. springs, other than the fact that coilovers are adjustable?
I didn't see this before. First, what you might be thinking when we say "coilover". You may have seen what some companies call "coilovers" as little sleeve that fit over your stock struts and short springs that set on top of them. These are bad because the spring is so short you lose a lot of suspension travel. Also most of them have insanely stiff springs to keep them from binding cuz they're so short, and they bounce around a lot because of that. That's not what these are. These are completely new struts with threaded bodies, and springs. This way you get height adjustability without loosing any travel, and you get a full sized spring with a spring rate that's not too stiff.
Another thing about aftermarket shocks/struts is that you need to find the right ones to match your springs for the best handling. This is a matched pair, so that's already done for you. So what you get with the coilovers that you don't get with the springs is adjustable height, and proper performance shocks/struts instead of using your stock ones.
Also, some of these kits have adjustable shocks/struts, so you can make them stiffer for racing and softer for daily driving with the twist of a knob on top of the strut. Add the EDFC and you can adjust it by the mere push of a button from inside the car. It's a really sweet setup.
On top of that, some of the coilover kits come with new top mounts, instead of using the stock rubber top mounts you get solid ones with increases the resposiveness of the car. Also, I'm pretty sure the top mounts are adjustable for camber too.
Sorry that was so long, but just wanted you to see why the coilovers were so much more special than just a spring setup. IMO it's well worth the extra money, even to a po' college boy like me who already has springs but wants this upgrade.

Hrm.
I was thining about doing a StopTech kit first, but this might be too good a deal to pass up since I was planning on doing the Tein Flex w/ EDFC anyway.
I'll have to think about it. I'm down a lot of cash atm due to Xmas, Tax time, etc.
If you want to "tentatively" put me down go ahead. ;)
If it gets to the 25% threshold I'll just about do it for sure.
Igor, I also post on my350z.com w/ the same name.

Hey Jeffrey, glad you're interested.
I recommend that you go ahead and call Drew Kung at (859) 255-3142 to get on board with the group buy. You can always back out so long as it's before the actual date when the big purchase is made from Tein. The advantage of everyone who is merely 'interested' in joining the GB is that it will provide others with confidence to join as well and we will end up with numbers that are good for the largest discount brackets.

EXCELLENT group buy. .
I will be buying a set of TEIN STECH springs for my 97 240sx :D
I know. . I know. . I WANT the coilovers, but I can't HAVE them. . so I'll have to deal with a set of really nice springs, instead (paired with shocks at a later date lol)
Thank you!!!

I realize this is probably up to the dealer, but how much would shipping be, roughly. . to one state away?
I may wind up driving down to pick them up.

Christian,
The FLEX for the WRX will be 20% off $1740.00 which is $1392. This is the worst case scenario. If we get 20 people to order coilovers, and I am certain we will, then your price will be $1305.
I am not understanding your fuzzy math behind the $1295 number - why are you taking 20% off their price?
Yea sorry about the misunderstanding i was taking the 20% of their price. (i thought their price would be the standard price) Hopefully i can sneak in on this groupbuy i'll keep in touch :) Do we post up here when we decide? or do you want a pm?
thanks!

http://www.tein.com/toyota.html <-- go there and subtract 25% from the retail price that you find.
why are the prices there so high, the lowest price is like $850 for toyotas, and 2 are over $1200. maybe im just looking at it wrong. what is the difference between the 3 different springs they have, the basic, ss and ssp.

cheapest ive been offered tein ss kit for 99-00 civic si is $1000 including shipping to u.k. what price what it be in this group if you will ship to u.k ?
i'd prefer a spring/shock combo than coilovers though. if you can get the n/a spring/shock kit how much would that be including shipping to u.k ?

I am not too familiar with Tien coilovers. How good are these compared to Bilstien PSS9 coilovers. Is the quality as good, easy to adjust ride height and dampening? Warrenty?
Thanks

Igor, I know you said that "in development" would not be part of this group buy, what about "comming soon"? I have seen online stores taking orders for this product already, should I check with the place up in Lexington or can you answer this for me. I would be interested in the S.TECH springs.
Thx and sorry to be a bother. I want to participate in the GB, but there is only one product out for my car right now and I'm not sure that is the one I want.

Look at the spring rates... the higher the number the stiffer it is. Also look at the range of adjustment. Both of those are on the prices/app. page at TEIN's site. Also, I doubt either have this but features such as an inverted shock, monotube shock, or upper pillowball mounts are great. Lastly, call TEIN and make sure that they are both rust proof, some of their older models (TEIN HA, for one) have a real problem with that.

I am hearing that we already have <b>5 orders for coilovers</b>.
I will be posting a confirmed update later today with the current numbers for coilovers and springs.

Chlatboy, if you were rich then you wouldn't need the GB anyways. :) Here's what it would cost before shipping though, is it really hard to do the math? 1560 X .8 = 1248 for the coilovers, plus whatever they said the EFDC costs on the first page of this thread. Might I suggest getting the HE coilovers though, they are much stiffer, but are not compatible with the EFDC, but IMO that's pointless anyways. I'm getting HE for my S14.
SILVIA's rule!
basketballgod5: Nice S13. First of all what do you want to do with the car? What's your driving style? Do you want something fun or something comfortable?
Anyways, they both have rust prevention painting, which is good. The difference, besides the EFDC compatibility is that the SS come with a 16 way dampening adjustability. So you can make them a little softer for daily use, then make them a little stiffer for spirited driving or track use.

$850 is for a full coilover setup, not just "springs". Read this post (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=1466566&postcount=30) I made on page 2 and then you'll understand why the prices seem high, and that they're actually very reasonable for what you get even before the discount.
If you just can't shell out the cash for that now though, Tein has springs alone available for your Celica at $200, and that's before you add the discount.

Igor,
I just called (HPH) to place my order for a set of coilovers and an EDFC but Drew wasn't around (I spoke with Alex). Nevertheless I will be sending Drew my info shortly via email, along with calling him tomorrow to confirm that I am in the GB. Hopefully we can get enough people in on this GB to get 25% off :).
