This is such an amazing race, yet I'm suprised how few people in North America seem to care about it. My biggest complaint has to be with Speed channel. Before they were bought out by Fox, they used to run hours of coverage during the 17 day race. Now we get 30 mins a day of "highlights". Todays stage was over 9 hours long for the cars, so it's pretty crazy to try and compress that into half an hour. And that's not counting the motorcycle or heavy truck classes either. Hours of NASCAR, yet Speed Channel can't spare an hour or two from one of the biggest and most impressive races of the year.

Just ranting I guess, needed to get that out of my system. :banghead:

Oh, and it's crazy that stages 10 and 11 have been cancelled, and changed to a road section, due to security reasons.

I hear ya. I was looking forward to watching some good coverage of the race. Speed had been running spots saying how they where going to cover it. I thought cool this will be good. Then after seeing two shows I gave up on it.

Now I'm kinda glad I'm over in Germany. Eurosport and Motors TV seem to cover it pretty good. :iceslolan

I know what you mean. I love watching races....except for NASCAR. Those are so boring its not even funny. IMO there needs to be a few channels devoted completely to cars and car races. They would show nothing but cars 24/7.

Man I totally agree, NASCAR just makes me change the channel whenever it comes on. It's beyond boring.

But with Speed Channel, it's not just the Dakar, but anything that isn't on a circle track sponsored by Dodge/Ford/GM is barely covered. WRC coverage is laughable, only spotty 30 mins of highlights if we're lucky.

I would kill for a european racing channel. Hell, make it a Euro Sports channel, highlighting racing and soccer and I'd never turn it off.

Kind of frustrating this post got moved, only the people who are mad about the lack of coverage and love rallying and such will see it. Oh well.

i agree nascar is damn boring, but what's worse than nascar....when they have the old 5 windbags talking about how they won the '67 brikyard 500 and showing clips and pics of montecarlos. it's not windtunnel...i can't think of the name.

agree..NASCAR is sometime very very boring to watch.

rally is fun to watch...

looking at those people in the Dakar rally...you then start wonder 'why'..they still do that year after year.

it is so tough, soft sand, rock, river and heat.

gee...I dont think i can make it, even the finishing in the first stage.

OK, so why don't you, instead of talking how bad NASCAR is (maybe for you, I, personally, enjoyed the races several years ago when we had coverage here), tell us what's going on at Dakar...
