Killed by a Maxima, What to do?

Alright guys, other than getting a new car or paying dearly for a turbo charger, is there any way my 2000 Honda Accord 4cly can beat a 1999 Maxima. My friend drives it and he always dogs me and I can't take it much longer. I have 150 hp and he had 190 hp, so how the hell can I get the extra 40 to 50? I dont have tons of money so if anyone knows any little things that can really make a difference suggestions would be great. Also if anyone knows any good sites for swapping Accord ECUs to get better performance that would be great. Thanks for the help.

A 50 shot will do the trick. Other than that you won't be able to gain 50 extra hp without some major mods or FI.

Depending on how much money you have, you should consider that an engine is nothing but a big air pump. It flows air in, combines it with gas, ignites gas and air mixture to create a force to push piston down, pushes exhaust gas out of the car.
Anything you can do to make the engine have more cold air will increase power. Colder air is denser than warm air. A cold air intake will increase power by letting the engine both breathe easier and the air will be cooler. After that, you could add a larger throttle body and a new intake manifold. Unless you want to be messing with engine internals, we'll skip over to the exhaust manifold. The stock manifolds on those kind of cars are certainly not meant for performance, but more for gas mileage and quietness. If you can replace it with a high flow header, it'll free up some power. Get a high flow exhaust system with a free-flowing catalytic converter. I'll leave other suggestions to the other people who reply to this post

exactly how much money do you want to spend. and i wouldnt touch the ecu unless you are upping compression; the stock one should be fine.

I looking to spend $1k tops, I know this isn't a lot in the "car world" but for anyone thats not a CT or otherpedic sugeon, money doesn't grow on trees. But yeah about that, basically for $1k I want to know what would be the best way to spend that money for increased power? Thanks!

like whtteg said, nitrous would be the cheapest way to go.

as for i/h/e/throttle body, that'd be a bit pricey to free up only a bit of power. u would keep up a bit better, but that isn't going to be enough to beat him by any means.

under 1k, either rebuild a turbo or buy a 50 shot...

Buy a 50 shot and P&P the head for 1k. IMO that will get you to where you want to be.
