Hey i play a little and I have a CHEAP fernadaz acoustic and a fender strat eletric. I was at the local music shop the other day and I played a Seagull guitar It was nice I liked it alot and they are priced quite nice IMO. Anyway I'm in the market for a nice acoustic and I don't have the money to buy a martin or a taylor.

Why not just get an inexpensive Epiphone acoustic/electric or a Fender a/e? Whats your strat, Mexican assembled? Never heard of a Seagull...the guitar, not the animal.....

Seagull is a very nice acoustic, great quality and a really nice voluminous tone. Another acoustic you might want to look into is Art & Lutherie, I have one and it's what I play whenever I'm at home. I would use it for performances but A) it has no pickup and B) I can't bring myself to cut a hole for the preamp, I'm scared it might ruin the tone. One thing you might want to look at is the action(distance from string to fretboard). Mine was really high on the art and lutherie but some careful filing and sanding on the bridge and nut brought it right down to where I like it. Any more questions feel free to ask and I'll try to answer.

i try... self taught, it's really not that difficult of an instrument. i have 2 acustics, one's a vintage Orlando, and... i don't remember what the other is. and a strat that i've converted to a strat body with 2 gibson humbuckers. :naughty: it's not ALWAYS best to listen to the people in the shops, when it comes down to it their main goal is : sell you a guitar... just make sure you get something that you feel comfortable playing, it has to fit you as well as sound good. if it doesn't, what good is something that might sound great, but you can't make it 'cause you aren't able to make your hands work with the instrument (e.g. fingerboard too wide or thin).

That's a laugh. It's not that hard to play the guitar, but it's very hard to be a guitarist. Anyone can learn a few chords, but to actually play well, with style, finnesse and skill, or to fit in smoothly with the rest of a band takes practice, talent, and alot of study. What's the relative minor of G#, how do you modulate from C major to A major? Don't know? Probably because you aren't a musician. Sorry if that was a bit flamey, but I'm a bit passionate about music.

well, the relative minor of G# is F... that one's easy, relative minor is the 6th note of a scale... (it's easier to count 2 back though) and what do u mean 'modulate' from C major to A major... i'm assuming you are talking about switching the key sig., if it's a natural major, you just add F# C# and G#. i'm quite passionate about music as well, but have never been that into theory.

Hypsi87 - I don’t play guitar myself but my husband does. I’ll send him an email and see if he can help you with suggestions for a reasonably priced acoustic.

To be honest I haven't looked at prices for acoustics, but I do have a couple suggestions for nice ones that I would think should be reasonably priced. A friend has a Washburn steel-string acoustic, which is absoultely beautiful to play, and has a really nice sound. I wouldn't have thought a Washburn acoustic ought to be too expensive. Ditto Ibanez, but I've played a couple of their new (steel-string) acoustics, and they were also beautiful. I'd certainly suggest checking them out.

Sorry man the whole reply wasn't directed at you though on review it seems that way...I just get a little uptight because I've met alot of people that really suck as a musician but think because they can play G C D or some new song on the radio that they're hot stuff. Then they talk about how good they are or how easy it is for anyone to do. No hard feelings though :)
To continue, a buddy of mine has a takamine acoustic/electric. Not sure of the model but it's a smaller bodied guitar and I've never really been too fond of it, especially considering it was like 400 USD. I payed about $420 for my alvarez but it's alot more guitar IMO.

don't worry dude, no feelings of animosity here. i know exactly how you feel *in reguards to poserishians*, but you also have to remember that some people can be really good, and know absolutely NO theory (i know some) and some people can know everything about the instrument and suck (to an extent... i should probably say 'not be as good as they should be with how much they put in'). but it seems like today if someone can plunk out a few power chords in succession, they feel they've mastered the instrument, not everyone realizes just how much work you have to put into music. baaah.... if i say any more i'll start going on a rant...
