Headlights won't come on at start, please help!

When i turn on the engine, and then turn on the headlights, it would take like 5 minutes later for it to turn on, i don't know what's wrong with it. Perphaps it has to do with the engine being so cold because it is winter right now. Before there was snow, it turned on when i want it to. I think my civic has wiring and electrical problems because a few months ago the whole interior dashlight/rear tail lights were all dead. I had just replaced my batteries, i think they're the right one.

I have the same problem with my 93. If you figure it out, notify me!
Some more detail:
- Only happens in cold weather
- Parking lights, signals, and instrument lights work normally
- No headlights bright or dim and no bright indicator until the car warms up
- Bright lights and indicator will come on with passing switch

I dug through the diagrams and determined it almost has to be in the headlight switch. From the switch out, power runs the same course as the passing switch and that part works. Only thing is when the lights come on, the only thing that's warmed up at all is the engine. The interior still freezing cold... :banghead:

My next step is replace the switch, soon as I can find one.

Peplace the switch if it's bothering you that bad. I'm taking a HVAC/R course and were doing wiring diagrams right now. If the diagram your looking at has a ----| |----- that's a normally open switch it the case as above stated it's not wanting to "close" when turn the light switch. The contact on the switch is going bad.

Did you get this fixed?

I still don't have it fixed. Still positive it's the switch though. I don't have much free time these days to work on it, so I won't pull it apart until I have a switch on hand to replace it with.

If the weather here gets warm enough I can take the bike to work for a few days, I may pull it apart and see if I can clean the switch up. That's usually enough for that type of contact switch. For now I just wait til the headlights come on to drive in the dark....
