1999 Jimmy V6 4.3 2wd 100k mi. runs great---I have had problems with my jimmy stalling hot and cold, i have gone through the usual fixes and a trip to the dealership for some expensive maintainance that did not fix the problem. I was told by a mechanic on line who had a similar problem that it could be the crank sensor. My dealer wants $300 to replace the part so I've picked up the sensor from my local parts house and I'm trying to verify if I have located the correct part on the engine. The one on my truck is much different from the sensor I've purchased. The question is, is this sensor at approximatley 5:oo on the front engine cover directly behing the main pulley with a three wire modular plug? A brass like cylinder mounted on a bracket attached with one small bolt? The one I bought is more square with 4 phillips screws to attach.

any help would be greatly appreciated.
