I have a 1991 Cherokee with ABS. That model has an unlimited recall on the ABS Pump Motor Assy. I have had mine replaced 3 times in 3 years. I don't know if it is the same problem as yours, but mine gave me a rock hard peddal as if a vacuum leak in a power brake sys. Check with your local dealer if any recalls on your ABS system.

Muzzleloader you say an unlimited recall on ABS pump assembly are you certain this is true. i just bought a 1991 Cherokee with this very problem and the assembly has been replaced once already, sure would be nice for them to foot the bill for this expensive part.

Can you plse help I am desperately looking for the ABS MODULE on my 1999 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4L Auto(XJ series). The chassis # is: 1J4FJB8S1XL520042 with engine #: XL520042

The ABS Module # is K56027931AC
Can you plse confirm availability, price & transport/shipping costs to 81 Genl. Chris Muller Crescent, Welgelegen, 7500, Cape Town, South Africa.

All 4 sensors show for example 100km/hr but as soon as you touch the brake the right rear immediately drop to ZERO and the other 3 came down normal. OR any othet idea what the problem can be???

My email is [email protected] if you directly want to respond!

Hey check under the carpet under the back seat. Sometimes the rear wheel sensors can come unplugged. The sensor plugs into some type of g-force sensors.

The 91 and 98 have a different ABS system. Both require a Scan Tool to access the codes. If your light is on the system is disabled. If your light comes on while driving it is most likely a wheel sensor. If it comes on while sitting still it could be the Modulator. Have to access the diagnostic info to be sure.

My 1991 Cherokee has the ABS light on, but I know the reason - my rear ABS sensor is broken.
I don't bother to fix it, because I believe ABS is meant for a very unexperienced driver and I am sure it increases the stopping route nealy twice.

ABS system is mainly for bad road conditions such as Ice Rain Snow. No matter how good a driver you are You cannot equal ABS when It senses a skid condition it can pump fluid to all wheels faster than you could begin to. I would replace the sensor esp with Winter comming.

CAM7 - I experienced 8 times the ABS in action and I hated it. On a perfectly dry road it made my stopping route more than twice longer, just about to rearend someone.
on ice and snow it doesn't give me any better result than just using the brake with caution and skill.
I'll never use it again.
Did you have any experience with ABS, or you just copy and paste somebody's comercial?

XJ31 - I spent some time here not to prove any superiority, but to share some of my experience. In your case it is a time lost.
Yes - I don't take the propaganda easily and I check the performance of equipment to the best of my ability.
This is my last comment on this subject.
Thank you.
