Hi, i'm new, I just bought a XB Tamiya Frod Lightning. I am buying a 19T Trinity Chameleon motor and I want to know exactly what I have to do the swap the engines. I know there is a solder side and plug side...but looking at the new motor, it doesnt look like there is connectors/plugs that come with it. I want to know if I have to do any soldering or anything like that to swap out the 540 or if I can just bolt it right on. Please help me out.

I dont think that is a direct motor swap. If i remember corredctly, teh taimya XB's are powered by a 380 sized motor. I dont think you could put a 540 into an xb easily. Also, if it is a 380 motor currently in there, there is a very small chance that the electronics could even handle a 540 motor. I say first, check to see if teh motor is the same size as your 540, if it is, you will need to solder something, to make it work, if it is not a 540, i would suggest not trying to make it work.

Actually its a stock 540 Tamiya motor in there, and I just recently made the swap this weekend. It was a couple screws and plugs and that was it. But thanks for your help anyways.

huh, last i knew they didnt use the 540 sized motor... looks like iw as misinformed. How does it run? also, be careful as you could fry the electronics, or resistor if it is a mehincal speed contorl unit.

I'm not fully sure as to how it runs. I ran it out in the snow (bad idea) and found that it didnt grip AT ALL but it did go MUCH faster then the stock motor. I can asure you that it will go much faster when the snow melts. I am quite worried with the MSC, i SHOULD get a ESC but we'll see how it goes. I dont want to put a 100 dollar item on a 250 dollar toy. like i said, we'll see how it goes.
