Hello Everyone, it's seems I have reached Xanadu!
I stumbled upon this forum ~1yr ago while google searching for Datsun model info...but back then I couldn't become a member b/c of browser problems, and I never came back to it.
This forum is fascinating...the talent really humbles me.

I'm itching to show everyone my work...most people just think model kit building is a waste of time, but first a bit about myself:

My first kit was a 1992 Firebird Formula that I wanted to build to replicate my Dad's '85 TA...it was a cheesy model looking back on it!
I started building kits again 5 years ago while studying at UC Davis. I've built almost 40 since then. I'm currently working at Genentech in South San Francisco and I try my best to fit in some kit-building nightly!(But that never happens)

I think I've set out to have a model for each marque...I really love old musclecars(Chevy, Ford, Mopar). Euro and Japanese cars are cool too, TV/Movie cars, but "sleepers" of any make me drool!
DTM, JTCC, BTCC and other sticker laden cars are pretty much lost on me now, but I've built a few.
Now I'm in this phase of building cars for friends, it's fun.

I'M A DATSUN NUT!!! I noticed a few old-schoolers on the forum with 1:1 Datsuns as well as scale ones. I have a 1967.5 Roadster that I'm swapping an S14 SR20DE (NA) into. 180hp in 1950lbs will be fast! And the inevitable question of course,"Where do I get an SR20 engine All my Datsun pics/some model pics are here:
http://community.webshots.com/user/alving01
and 02, 03, 04.

SO, about those models...I'm currently working on the 1/24 Hasegawa 4-door 510 kit. I'm building it to replicate my friend's '72 510 Track car(Rebello quad-throttle KA24E). It will have the full rollacge with tie-ins to f/r struts, Sparco seats, battery in back seat and autometer gauges. Once I figure how to post pics you'll see where I'm at. But at the moment I'm debating on leaving the JDM parts on or scrapping them. It is USDM model I'm trying to re-create.

I'm also building the 1/25 Revell 510 kit to replicate another friend's VG-30ET 510. Problem there is that his 510 is the famous "Strutless Wonder" and it uses double a-arm Rx-7/Supra front suspension setup instead of strut towers. There is also a full tube frame front clip to duplicate. Major inner fender woes goin on there!

Finallly, I'm building the 1/24 Fujimi SRL 311 roadster kit for another friend. The kit depicts a roadster that is RHD, a tall windshield model
and a ugly rubber dash. My friend has the coveted 67.5 SRL with the flat metal dash and its LHD, so I'll be stressing over that. So far the chassis complete.

I know everyone likes pics, so do I. I take digital pics at full resolution~3megs or so. They are well lit and in focus but I hope they fit here.
Anyhow, sorry for the novel.
peace

What a nice supprise! I'm new to this board as well. I have been moderating the tire/wheel forum here for a few months and had no idea we had a model car forum:rofl: This is too cool. I work at The Tire Rack and have done quite a bit of modeling on the side for fun. I couple of years back I even did some built-ups for Polar Lights Models (also located here in town). You may have seen some of my stuff if you've ever checked out their cars at RCHTA or the New York Toy/Hobby show. To be honest, I do mostly Sci-Fi and figure kits but I have a big stash of classic show car kits. I have a soft spot for some of the Barris and Ed Roth cars. I have already found some very cool tips on this board and am excited to be here as a visitor. I'll leave the moderating to those in charge here:wink: and will be a 'normal joe'. I need to get a website set up with photos of my stuff online. I am amazed by the quality in the contest photos! You folks are very talented!
