I dont know about the former, but the latter i know for a fact is a rip off, its just a stupid resistor chip which you can get from radio shack and do yourself, i bought that stupid think back a while ago when i didnt even do research on it, good thing your asking cause i didnt. dont buy it, in fact check out this website where its the SAME EXACT THING, http://www.installuniversity.com/install_university/installu_pages/sophomore_year/timing_tricker_mod.htm , dont be fooled, also, the first link you posted might be the same resistor but closed in a box (which ive seen before) be careful in wasting your money in stupid shit like this. your are better off spending your money on wiser things, just search the forums and you'll more than likely find many 'newbie' faqs on first mods, there are even a lot of free mods you can do.

The key words are "up to" 20 hp. Meaning it could... but probably won't. All those chips do is "trick" your engines computer and disables all the sensors... Not healthy and not worth your time. If you're gonna do it... do it right. Or don't do it at all. Don't waste your time with retarded cheap ass mods like these chips and the "turbo" thing from the other thread

ok, this is what it does: it is a 'piggyback' chip. it makes your ecu think that the intake air temp is the coldest that can be read by the sensor, thereby forcing the richest possible fuel mapping. think cold air intake. why cold? because cold = dense. denser intake = more fuel nessecary to compensate. so you will be running richer all the time. it is crap...
