the f22 has 135 horsepower and horrible pulling power... the h23 is really the way to go if performance matters to you whatsoever. If you want to modify your car at all you wont get respectible numbers out of an f22

Do you really need a new engine. Because i have a H23 its awsome i don't think i would change it for h22 vtec to me its over rated. From what i heard that between the h23 and h22 there is no different in accleration. (I HEARD THAT SOME WHERE ELES) i think you should just save you money and get some bolt ons it would do you good i think.

Here's the think i need a new engine cause my h23 has a blown head gasket which passes motor oil to the radiator causing my car to heat up and well the head cracked and i bascially need a new engine and well I can buy me a H23a1 for 1,400 or a f22B dohc 2.2 for $500 which the guy say's there the same just that the h23a1 is a 2.3 and the dohc f22b is a 2.2 (it's not the single cam v-tec) should I throw in the f22b which is cheaper and r basically the same both twin cam and all...but I don't know the 411 on the f22b i heard it also has 160 HP and it when on the Jap. Accord's from 94-97...any help will be welcome thankxxx guys

get an h23a. My engine died, so I got another h23a with fewer miles. My odometer reads 131,000, so it's about time for a new engine. You will notice some differences as it isn't the original engine that was built with the engine. Try to get it installed at a shop where they do it professionally, unlike me who got it done at a cheap place, so they stole some parts off the engine before installing it.
I did think about upgrading to an h22, but then you'd have to buy an ECU, which isn't cheap, vtec controller, and maybe the vtec tranny as well, because the gear ratios 2-5 are different.
-> h23a

Hey guys, my h23 died as well and i swapped it with an h22, and kept the h23 tranny. my h22 w/o vtec is noticably faster than my h23, but the difference in size for some parts are a pain in the ass. If ur on a tight budget, like i was when i did my swap, ur better off going h23 bekuz its just a direct replacement, and the h22 swap requires just a little more work. But thats just my experience and my thoughts.
PS - guys correct me if i'm wrong, but wasn't the f22 a sohc and thats y it was garbage in the preludes? :twak:

baller? were they talking about the h23 with or without the tranny? it makes a big difference. where are you located? 1400 is way too much.. i can get you a better deal than that.

Supposedly the h22a is 0.6 seconds faster in the 0-60 than the h23. My engine is about to go, too, but I'm saving up cash for the VTEC.

if your block is fine, i'd keep that and put an h22 head on it. you can keep your tranny. the only thing extra you need is the vtec ecu.
stay away from the f22. they're sohc w/135hp. barely enough to pull your car.
