Brake Replacement

I need to change the brake pads (turn rotors?) on my daughters 1999 1/2 Jetta GLS.
I have never touched a Jetta before, is there anything special about the brake system that I need to be aware of?

On the front it's pertty straightforward. I've heard alot of people say it's better to replace the rotors since there's not much tolerance for machining. I also open the bleeder when pressing the caliper piston back in to prevent back-pressuring the ABS and overflowing the master cylinder, others say it's unneccessary. On rear disk brakes you have to screw the caliper piston in while pressing. There are special tools for this but with a little work it can be twisted with needle nose pliers while pressing.

All of this information is true, and good info at that, but don't ruin that nice Jetta by putting on sub-par brakes!!! I have discovered a new company called Rofren Brakes. They have by far the best brakes on the market!!! I have tried everything----these brakes work, and with no hassles.(i.e. squealing, heavy dusting, etc.) Unfortunately I heard about these brakes through a friend, and since they are a new company their website is under construction. Try eurobraketech.com, they are a distributor and will have information on how to obtain these brakes. Or just drop me a line and I can hopefully point you in the right direction. Don't put bad brakes on your VW you will have more problems than you can imagine!!!
