Water cooling lines for T3?

What is the best place to tap in for the coolent supply? what size hose should be used?

for the Return, where should it be dumped back into, and what size hose would be better?

I was looking and the only things I can come up with is T off a tempature sensor for the supply (but i dont thing that would provide enough flow, and then dump it in the thermastate housing, but when the thermastat opens, it would push the coolent the wrong way i think?

ANY IDEAS?

did you look to see how it was done on the car or did you just buy it from someone

You don't need a flow in order for the water cooling system to work. The water cooled part of the turbo works to its greatest benefit when the car is off. This is accomplished because a thermal siphon is set up in the center housing. As heat from the turbine housing and exhaust manifold soaks into the center housing, the water is vaporized and rises, drawing in cooler water. This continues until there is insufficient heat to cause the process to continue.

You could just plumb two lines to your overflow tank. One above the fluid level though.


You picked a good donor turbo to. I had an old SAAB Turbo and it only had lag in 5th gear at 35mph.

hmm thats interesting, ill have to look around in a few spots and see what i can come up with. Yeah after looking at several engines and such the saab seemed to have one of the better ones, hopefully so.

use two barbed 90* fittings (5/16, 3/8 if you have to) and about 7 feet of rubber fuel line. Tap off the water line going to your throttle body. It doesn't matter which side of the turbo the water lines go on, it's not directional, as long as its run inline
