Bye Bye civic

Last Sunday I thought I would take the day to put the new tokico lowering springs and struts on my car that I just gotten in the mail from More Power Racing. Replaced the front pass side with out much difficulty, then I went to replace the rear pass side. What a bitch!! The bolt that goes through the lower control arm that attaches to the strut was rusted out and ended up brakeing off in the bushing. I thought this was not much of an issuse so I just took off the control arm and was just going to use flat punch to remove it from the bushing. Boy was I wrong!! So I soaked it down with PB Blaster hoping that it would ease out and proceded to start on the drivers side rear, when as I figured the same bolt on this side broke off as well. Now for some godforsaken reason Honda used a spindle bolt in this application, which is not suppose to turn. The only problem with this is that rust can build up in between the spindles and permantaly seal its self in the bushing. I tried drilling out the bolts on a drill press. No luck. So all of my day is gone with my cars ass up in the air like on Back to the Future Three, and I only have one off day left! I have to drive an hour the next day after looking at all the parts places in town to get two new bushings, and wait all afternoon for a slow poke to press them in. Finally get back at about 6 and finish up the car at about 7:30 in the rain that had started on my way back. The car looks great, handles a little better, and rides alot better. Then on the way back to my place a deer comes across 4 lanes of traffic to hit my little Si. Gone one fender, one door, and rr quarter panel on a 91 green Si with no less than 104k on the odometer and probably the best running honda motor I have ever encounterd. I only have liablity because my insurance agent said that was all I needed. I would pay too much for full coverage. 1800 dollars worth of damage. I am sick!!!!!!!!! So what do I do???? BYE BYE civic. I sold the 91 Si to my Father-in-law who needed a car for work. He is just going to go to a junk yard and try to find a fender and a door. I on the other hand went and bought a brand spanking new Si off the showroom floor.
Silver with just 10mi on the od when I drove her off the lot. I have never owned a new car so I hope I did the right thing. I am going to miss my little green pimp wagon, but at least I know it went to a loving home. 3yr 36k warranty, full coverage insurance I kind of like the ring of that!!
Sorry for the long post. If you read the whole thing double thanks because you spent your time letting me express myself so evidently you are caring individual.

Is there something wrong with an 03 Si beacause that is what I got. I know that the 04 has different tail and head lights, but it did not justify the extra money. I got a great deal on mine and I keep cars (normally) for a while so depriciation is not a concern yet.

its was just the time for your car. it served its purpose for all those years. llok in the bright side...you have a new car. as for the SI, never heard of them having problems.
whats the difference with the 03 and 04 models? does it have the same engine?

nothing wrong with the 03 si....just that it lacks power and looks like a mini odyssey
but by it having a k series engine it will have a lot of capabilities...more than the b series if u look at the past engines that honda made

i am pretty sure they have the same motor (k20a3? @ 160hp)...but since the Civic was new on '02, the '04 models have had a bit of a facelift. I also heard they took the blinker/sidemarker in the fender and moved it up into the mirror.
Too bad on the green Si..those are my favorite. If you don't mind the depriciation issue and the fact that your car had about 10% less value at mile 11 than it did at mile 10, you'll be OK. Make sure you take the time to break the motor in properly, unlike some dumb-ass punk here from this summer that sold his Civic and bought a Neon SRT-4 and the first day was driving the shit out of it racing and talking about how fast his car was - - he hasn't posted here much since then...I think we pretty much ran him out for being such a dumb-ass. I hope he plowed his little blown Neon right into a fucking tree

I'd say keep it under 4k rpm for about 750-1000 miles

i always kept it under 4k for about 2500-3000 miles
and i would change the oil ever 1500 miles for the first 6000 miles.
