If you aussies hadn't heard through the street circles

Quote from Performance Forums:

"Hmmnn..

Anyone that ever criticised me for buying a Civic VTEC should have been at Eastern Creek last night... A mate of mine had his turboed 1.6L civic running a best time of 11.54 at 131mph, and this was its' first meeting! The car still wasn't launching all that well due to wheelspin...

Not bad for a 1.6 litre front wheel drive....."

And apparently this car is also for sale too. I saw it in this weeks trading post.

"HONDA CIVIC VTIR 1996 White hatchback manual, turbocharged by Hypertune, fully optioned, serviced regularly, low kms, logs, APEXi PowerFC ECU, DMS racing coilovers, Blitz injectors, HKS manifold, head gasket, Earls oil cooler, intercooler, 3in stainless steel exhaust and much more, ADK-11H, excellent condition, $30000 negotiable CAMPERDOWN 02-9517 3760 or 0413-114904 [email protected] "

THE ULTIMATE SLEEPER :D

Sounds sweet - although I wonder about the times quoted. That's awful close to Croydon's H22 powered Civic.

Besides - I've never understood turboing a VTEC engine. I'd put a non-VTEC engine in and then turbo it :)

Does sound sweet, but I still wouldn't pay that much for it though!

Exactly...... So much to choose from :hehehe:

Or you could go back to basics, buy a 1G and do it up :)

Or if I wanted to get a 2nd car, I'd buy myself a CRX or something or something stock as, and make it a sleeper. Plus I could always use that money for a deposit for another home, and then live off the rent :D

P.S Setanta, talked to my cousin today, he said he will have to find out whether my other cousin wants the city turbo first. They're always indecisive in the that family. If I hear anything else I'll let you know. They take forever to decide about anything.

I wouldn't mind having the city as a 2nd car, but then you know I've been spending on my teg already, and I might get carried away with 2 toys :hehe:

Haha...I wish...but not a very viable option at the moment....especially considering I just bought a unit, and now have a mortgage :bloated: HAHA...

But hey.....atleast the unit has already made me $40K, unlike cars, which depreciate

Sweet. How did you manage such a quick return?

Well...that's just a figure...I wouldn't be able to reap the rewards unless I sold the unit ofcourse, which defeats the purpose of negative gearing.

I bought off the plan, and once the units were completed, they were automatically worth an extra 15% on top of off the plan purchase price.

Nice one. I'm looking closer and closer into buying property, but at the moment I have to get finances in order so that I'm comfortable doing it. One of the guys at work owns 3 properties and is always berating me for not having a nest egg set up.

The white Civic in the pic belongs to a customer (Roger). The one that did the 11.5 is black.

hypertune got a website?

HYPERTUNE

Well, we do but its "Coming Soon"

www.hypertune.com.au

Hopefully we will have some stuff up there soon.
We are going to be building some N/A VTEC engines with Toda cams soon and I'm sure some of you would like to know the results.

If anyone has an Integra Type-R they would like to donate, we want to try out some Toda Spec-A cams and Toda header. Of course, if the donor is happy with the parts they can buy them without install costs.

can't you use b18c cams in a b16a, i thought they are the same, how much is a set of toda cams???

Setanta

Heh... I was hoping to volunteer a SiR instead of an ITR :D The Mugen stuff I looked at was expensive... but fitting was even more so.

HYPERTUNE

We have plenty of parts for the B16A.

The main reason I am after an ITR is that its standard valve springs are good enough for the Toda Spec-A cams. This makes it an easy and relatively cheap upgrade.

With the B16A, you have to upgrade the valve springs and lost motion assemblies when installing bigger camshafts. (although, you can get away with civic type-r cams)

Toda cams are $1012 each.
Toda cam gears are $286 each which seems to be a great price for what you get.

go for it Setanta get some toda cams!!!! :D

Setanta

LOL... new cams = new springs etc plus new extractors plus....

I know I'd like to do it, but I really want to hot up a 1G as well (if I can find a worthwhile chassis :( )

I've got an Integra....but its not a Type R....its a VTIR :)

Have you got any ideas for what would best suit it? I'm thinking later on to just get it tuned a bit, and go the NA. My sister and I are looking to restore a Honda City Turbo II, so if I want turbo, I can always play with that. :)

Well, we do have some ITR valve springs that you could use. These are fine for the Toda Spec-A cams. Those, with a nice header should work well. Of course, you could fit even bigger cams, but the parts list gets bigger also (Toda springs, programmable ecu, etc.....)

I might actually have aftermarket cams. My cousin is servicing the car tomorrow, so I'll get him to check for me. The car already has a R spec Vtec controller, and it seems a bit silly to have one, if they didn't do any other engine mods.

What other hondas have you been working on?

Ive got an R spec Vtec controller as well, but im almost certain ive got stock cams, I think my car was just owned by a japanese rice boy.

Like the front strut bar ive got with a "tuned by Razo" sticker on it apparently is a factory DC2 one

HAHA.....yeah just got service done by relos. Took the Vtec controller out, and giving it to them to test on the JDM ITR swap they are doing into CRX. Stock cams for me also...no point in keeping it. Probably sell it to him.

My car was done up by the guy's brother and given to him as a wedding present. The guy I bought it off knew nothing about cars.
