Skunk2 Coilovers

Getting my baby back on the road after a long ass year!! I have a lot of work to do on my 93 ex to get her up to par again but the first thing I have to take care of is suspension. I'm currently riding on Skunk2 coilovers and stock shocks/struts (bought it that way, my first project car so I'm learning as I go). My ? is, what would be a good shock/strut setup to work with these springs? I don't have a ton of cash to blow but I want it done right. I've looked a little into KYB AGX's, but like I said, I'm learning as I go. Any opinions on this one? Your help is greatly appreciated!

Koni Yellow shocks. Because of the twice as high as other coilover sleeve springs rates, I wouldn't put any other shock with Skunk2's. Simply no other shock would last a length of time on them. They are about a 500lbs/ft front and 400lbs./ft rear rating of the springs, which is quite a high spring rate number just for the street. Skunk2's are all business (road race spec) and not very suitable for the street for general comfort. :2cents:

And Doubletap, another great thing about this place is I can come right back and tell you I used the search feature and read for about 2 hours this morning before I posted. I was looking for a little more info on my specific application, and hopefully someone with the some experience with the same product.

Not trying to sway you away from the Skunk2's, just trying to sway you into getting the correct shocks to match them with. :cool: You won't be dissapointed with the little extra $$$ the Konis cost. Unlike other shocks out there (Tokico Illuminas, and KYB AGX) Koni Yellows can be revalved (from what I hear) to compensate for stiffer spring rates, or for a more user customizable ride handling performance and feel.

I think I will go with the yellows. As far as the drop, god it's been so long since I have touched that car but I'm pretty sure I'm around 2" all around. Give or take. Im pretty happy with the Skunks, just not with the combination. I don't think I have heard a single comment referring to yellows in a bad light. Now it's just time to start saving $$$!! :uhoh:

Yes, swaybar(s) if you haven't yet already, particularly the rear one. Get something that's at least 14mm in diameter. And if it's bigger than say 19mm, you'll want some sort of subframe reinforcement to go along with it.

Get rid of the front sway, your making handling worse than it already is by increasing understeer. FWD, by the law of physics, has understeer as a natural characteristic. One of the main goals of upgraded suspension is to increase oversteer(larger rear sway) to make the car "neutral" or a slight bit of oversteer.

Easy fix, sell that ITR front bar, and get a stock 5th gen EX front sway, and get an ITR rear sway for your ride. www.beaksproducts.com sells an EG Civic ITR rear swaybar upgrade/add-in kit for your car. It'll GREATLY improve your handling as I have an ITR rear swaybar on my '00 Civic coupe, and no front sway at all the speak of, and my handling is so nicely balanced.
