Ive got a flamethrower kit and i was wondering if your fuel ratio had to be at least a 10:1 ratio for it to work ,I bought a Vortech 12:1 ratio FMU and i dont have a cat?

do you have a turbo or supercharger? 12:1 means it raises the fuel pressure 12 psi for ever 1 psi of boost, if you dont have boost it will not rise the pressure.

no i dont but i plan on getting it turbocharged soon,as fast as i can,

where did you order your kit? The one im getting uses a spark plug and coil.

saw it in a add in the new sport compact car mag. the one with the 9 sec supra. damn its amazing

u can make one ur self, put a spark plug in each one of ur mufflers and run a wire from the coil to them...but make sure to but a in line togle so u can turn it on / off

Propane injected into the exaust near the end and a spark plug ran to the coil is the easy way to do it. if you are a good electrician you can make it come on when ever your rev the car up to a certian RPM then drop off the gas... using propane is alot better for your engine because you dont have to run it hella rich. but then aagian flame thrower kits are kinda retarded because engines are sapposed to be spitting fire everywhere...

10.1 Air fuel? Thats a little rich, yeah, I heard that benzonmatic propane/mixture stuff works pretty good too...

most of the flame kits you buy out of a mag ad go in line of you spark plug wires, they kill one or two of your cyls to shove more fule through the exust. the spark that would be going to the combustion chamber is seent to plugs you install in you exoust pipe (about 5in or so from the tip) this is BAD! the unburnt fule can wash the oil from your rings thus caulsing more friction, wearing out the rings faster.
ive played with the propane injection methed. the problem with coil togel methid is the coil only fires whin you turn off the switch. so you git a very cool blue ball of flame. the easest way i came up with fixxing the switching prob is a blinker (turn signal). if you use one with 3 prongs 2 coils could be used. (i havent got around to trying the blinker but it should work)
hope that helps ya out or gives ya some idias

If this is true, why aren't rings failing left and right? We all know that there is unburned fuel for 2 of the 4 cycles (2 and a quarter, really), so why would 2 more make a big difference? Also, the "problem" is even worse when people run rich, but you don't see them complaining about their piston rings too.

this is prolly a stupid ?, the car that im building is going to have exoughst that is coming out the side, right b4 the back tire, is it safe to put a flamethrower on it?

i read if u hook the kit up wrong...either homemade or store brought...it can make ur muffler come flying off

Why dont y'all just use a propane bottle, pipe or hose to 12v solenoid valve, pipe or hose to exhaust just after cat(s). Fire an old ignition coil off the same signal you use to the solenoid valve(s) ???

If ya can't figure it out ya prolly shouldn't be doin' it!!!

Sorry, but that will never work unless you use a Model A/T Buzzcoil.....

It takes a bit more than just a simple 12 volt lead to fire a modern ignition coil....

If ya can't figure it out ya prolly shouldn't be doin' it!!!

I agree with'ya on this one ;)
