Hey, I am currently lookin into buyin an S and I was wondering if anyone could tell me how i could get my hands on an A-SPEC kit. I know the dealer can get it for you, but is there a back way, also, does anyone know what the price on it is?

Just traded in my 2003 RSX-S (leased) and bought an A-Spec. The dealer told me that only two A-Specs are sent to each Acura dealership.
Price=28,500. Probably paid too much but I loved my 2002.

28,500? yeah right... thats probably with no options... the one over here is at 31g... i would just save maybe 1 or 2 grand more n get an s2000

No options? Too funny. Read a litle more. The A-Spec is a standard package. There's nothing more to "need", except for a performance package, which I did.

well the one over here is 31k

The ASpec is just a $5000 kit added on to the TypeS. It does nothing for engine perfomance but it does give you a spoiler/wing kit that supposedly reduces air drag by a miniscule amount. It also includes the larger tires, wheels, and disc brakes and new struts that lower the car by one inch (better handling).
By the way, I believe that the dealer will upgrade your typeS to ASpec after you buy and it will still be under warranty.
If you pay more than 28k(intuit1's price) for the ASpec, you're getting ripped off.
I don't know if there's a back way of getting one, but if you find out please post it.

The A-Spec kit sucks. Its priced way too high.
And i'll prove my point like this:
Titanium Kit - You can buy kits 2-3 times more piece (I got a 36 piece red cf one) for around the same price and they come in about a dozen styles.
OEM Body Kit - There is about 30 body kits for the RSX and some of them are cheaper and some you might find look better.
Type R Wing - Again, over a dozen wings out there for the RSX, and the Type R wing has so many replicas of it for cheaper (and they're usually high quality - dealers have been known to sell replicas with the A-Spec kit and then keep the genuine wing and sell it for a profit, too so watch out for that)
Enkei Rims - Better looking (arguable), cheaper, bigger, lighter (not neccessarily all 4 qualities but at least some of the four) are out there.
Yoko Tires - Other tires out there that might fit the driver better (for a drag racer, low-wear, etc.).
Springs and Shocks - Overpriced and the dealers here warranty Comptech parts, so all your warranty is covered.
Aftermarket parts instead of the A-Spec are usually cheaper, better looking, more unique and more suitable for the person.
Lastly, instead of the A-Spec i'd get A type S with:
C-West Lip kit
Jackson Racing or Comptech Race Headers
Fujitsubo Power Getter Exhaust
ClubRSX edition Injen CAI
Hondata ECU reflash
Red CF Dash Kit
Rims
RevoTechnica 2 Adjustable Short Shifter Kit
Comptech springs
Or a Stage 1 or 2 Cybernation Turbo
Or a cheap version,
ClubRSX Edition Injen Intake
Exhaust
Race Headers
Revo2 SS kit

Wel i'm not in the states so if my prices aren't the cheapest, i'm not at fault.
(all prices in US dollars)
ClubRSX Injen CAI: 240
Exhaust: Around 500 depending on brand
Revo Short Shifter: 100
Race Headers: 560 and up (although they all have the same performance gains, just name
ClubRSX Springs made by Goldline: 200
1600 USD and you'll smoke an A-Spec any day of the week. All prices according to http://store.clubrsx.com and some parts are only from and cheapest at ClubRSX.
Jackson Race Header and Race SuperCharger: 3800 That alone will take out an A-Spec.
Turbo: www.cybernationmotorsports.com/home.php
Lip kit - less than 1000 bucks and it'll (at least for most people) look better than the OEM kit
Race Headers - 560
Exhaust - 350+
ClubRSX CAI - 240
Hondata - 600 and up
Dash kit - 180 and up for a 36 piece kit coming in various available colours
Rims - The sky's the limit
Short Shifter - 100
Springs - 200
Those are 4 packages that'll make an A-Spec seem like a tercel without an engine :D
And most of thsoe packages offer A LOT more than the A-Spec (wow, A-Spec gets a lip kit, spoiler, titanium dash kit, rims and springs) for cheaper or equal price. The last one will cost more than the A-Spec though....
I don't see why the A-Spec is even selling, the springs are the only part that are actually performance oriented.

Crazy, thanks for listing prices. I did a little research last night myself.
It does seem much, much cheaper to go aftermarket. Alot of people have said the ASpec package is a ripoff and I just wanted to verify this. I thought this was the case when I saw a $5000 price tag for a package that only changes the handling of your car.
This is what I came up with for that price
turbo kit($3000)
decent rims/tires($1000)
rotors/calipers($200-500)
springs($200) - from your list
Hondata upgrade($600) - from your list
A total of $5300 that actually does something for the handling, breaking AND engine. Of course I didn't add for the spoiler/wing kit since all it does is add weight to the car and is mostly for looks. So in all, going aftermarket would definitely be the way to go and it would smoke an ASpec in the process.

jealous baloney....lmfco!
I'm gonna have fun with this one.....
lmfco? Failed attempt at spelling LMAO or is it something else?
And how is it jealous baloney?
Feel free to point out any mistakes in this post:
Titanium kit - Increases interior weight thus planting the centrifugal mass to the tires?:grinno: That's just looks. Very expensive looks.
Type R Wing - Looks good, but only functional in REALLY high speeds which if you aren't gonna reach or reach enough times to maximize.
OEM body kit - Looks pretty good, but again expensive looks. And if you think its going to improve performance/handling, the dealer saw you coming.
Enkei Rims and I think Yoko Tires - Good job. Its replaces that crappy stock tires, and rims are personal taste so I won't touch that (does look good though). Just a bit expensive.
A-Spec springs - Good again. No complaints there. At all. I think it should be put stock on all RSX's.
That's it, now isn't it? Wow, that's a lot for 5000 plus install. And very little for a PERFORMANCE package.
So i'm going to pick apart that statement from there. Springs and Wheels. The springs are very good and i'd say they're equal to, maybe even better than the Mugen springs. The A-Spec springs were designed by the NSX crew. Therefore I say about 800 for springs. Not sure about wheels, so i'll make an overpriced statement over 2200. 3000 tops.
Now, please tell me how packages like I have mentioned can possibly be baloney, when they've proven to be combos to beat cars better than the RSX. And please don't make a one line response, i'd like to actually find out your reasoning. Every single one of my statements is backed up with hard cold proof. The fact that if you slap on a 250 dollar piece of tubing onto your car (cold air intake) and you can take down the same car but with the 5000+ plus performance package isn't that much to brag about now is it?
That is why offering the RSX Type S A-Spec is ridiculous and is ridiculously overpriced. The local Acura dealer is even selling their own cars equipped with progress springs and a few other things, much better than the A-Spec, cheaper, and also under warranty.
I wonder if this will have a reply or if s/he'll just ignore the truth.
And yes, it is my :2cents: but its also backed up with facts. I'd like to see if there is a chink in the armour of my post.

Thanks for clearing that up. Apparently, according to you, the ASpec package is worth the $5k+ just for the emblem alone?! :banghead:
In that case, I sure would like to have that neat little emblem on the back of my car saying I overpaid for an accessory package not worth much. NOT! How much does it add to the weight of your ASpec? :iceslolan

ntuit1 - You have yet to produce one factual statement. And I can easily build my own A-Spec. I'd rather buy something else for the price though, and even if it were available here I still wouldn't get it, i'd just hang out the dealer and laugh at all of those who fell for it.
The fact is, you can build a MUCH better car for the same price, so why would you want to build an A-Spec Besides, Type R badges > A-Spec badges :D

You want the real deal, get off the dime and stop slamming others for paying for an AUTHENTIC product.

However, with the exception of the springs, the authentic is also the inferior. And in the end both cars are gonna have the same value (sell the parts off the non A-Spec and you'll get equal or greater money back than the A-Spec would).

Find one fault with the above argument.
RSX Type S: CAI + Tires + Springs = <2000 dollars
A-Spec = >5000 dollars
Type S w/ I/T/S will crush the A-Spec.
And from the math I learned in school, 2000 is less than 5000+.
And then the only place where if its genuine or not counts is resale value. And when you sell the A-Spec, you're not getting the 5000 you paid for it, you're getting the pro-rated price of that. Same with on the I/T/S Type S.

Why is every one hating on the A-spec? For an A-spec owner, we will see it as jealousy when people are hating on our rides. Yeah it is over priced and if you paid msrp for it then you are a retard. I mean who really pays msrp for any car? I paid 24K and I love my a-spec. And If people are buying the a-spec thinking its going to improve performance, then they are f*cking retards too. I got my a-spec because I really like the handling on it, but mainly I love the way it looks. I grew out of the extreme look of body kits and like the JDM look of my car. Also I had a lot of bad experiences with aftermarket parts and think its much better getting it from the dealer where you won’t have any fitment issues and everything is covered under warrenty. Its cool to have your own opinions, just don't flame people who don't mind dishing out a few extra bucks for the A-spec. Besides for me, speed isn't everything. I live VA where cops will pull you over for going 10 over and I don’t race so I have no need for a SC or a Turbo.

I'm not jealous that the dealer saw me coming.
And here's why people don't like the A-Spec:
-Its OVERPRICED
-Tires and suspension are the only part of the package thats a PERFORMANCE package.
-For one quarter of the MSRP you can destroy an A-Spec
-It looks like so many other RSXs so its not unique
-And it would be a JDM kit except for the fact its not. Its a USDM and JDM kit being used and its been available on every non-type R DC5.
-Warranty? Majority of dealers back the high-quality parts of Mugen and Comptech. Mugen is almost as expensive as OEM but much better or equal.
-read all of my above posts if you can.
-Pretentiousness. Look at ntuit, all he posts is saying "jealousy" "jealousy" "jealousy" "lmfco" like a...well I won't go there.
And i've spent about a grand on courses and all that, I bet with my stock RSX-S I could beat you.
And what is lmfco?

you guys against the aspec package are right, it is a complete waste of money. you could buy the skirts spoiler, wheels, and redo the suspension for half the price of that package. and you wont have those gay a-spec emblems on your brand new type-s either.
