Well it depends on the phone.
Some of them you have to ring an 0900 number and enter a code that matchs each ring tone, and its downloaded into the phone, but they are DAMN expensive.

Or get the instructions for your phone and find out how to program in new ring tones. Then you just enter in the numbers and symbols into your phone in the order shown.

good luck, but I should warn you, most sound really really stupid. :D

ITs quite possible you cant enter your own ringtones with your model of phone. It should be quite easy to find though if it can
Just look in the ring tones menu, and see if theres an option for add new or something like it.

Otherwise any Vodaphone shop will be able to show you how.
(if its a Telecum phone, well then your screwed to begin with. :D )

If you have a Nokia phone, check the menus and see if there is a composer funciton within Tones, or Profiles. If it has the function, you can create your own ringtones. If not check in your ring types, and see whether there is any room for received tones.

Usually most of the sites you can download these ringtones, you either have to call a "information line" such as 1900 numbers here, and they charge you a rate a minute. Other options, you can ring your network provider, and see whether they have any similar service. I work for Vodafone in Australia, and we have a special ringtones number. It costs you 2 dollas something to download one, as opposed to those 1900 numbers which may cost you up to $5 a minute.

Also another option, some websites, have a special points system, where you a given like 10 points to start with, and it might cost you like 5 points to download a ringtone. Once you run out of points you have to either purchase some more with a credit card, or you can sometimes do silly surveys on the site, and might be able to get some points.

Check out www.yourmobile.com and see what there is available for the country your in. Hope this helps :D

What's the model number? I assume it's a Nokia phone. And where do you live? In the States, it generally specific to the provider. Like my Nokia 8290 (Voicestream) cannot receive ringtones from websites, but my friends' Nokia 8260 (AT&T) can! My phone has to get it either from my provider (Voicestream) or via infrared if I know someone who already has it.

And as others have mentioned, certain Nokia phones allow you to create your own--provided you have the notes, which some sites do provide.

And lastly, is your phone even capable of getting ringtones?!?
