I've seen alot of talkers in this forum but not alot of art....some but not alot. How about everybody just post a pic. The point of this not to judge peoples artwork but just to enjoy...good or bad, it doesn't matter.
I'll be looking forward to seeing everybody's art.

Open your pic up in photoshop and go to the Image pull down menu and choose flatten image. Then go back under the image pull down menu and go to image size. Make it 6 inches wide at 72 dpi then do a save as and save it as a medium res jpg.

I used ink and prismacolor pencils. I'm not the best at advice but I may be able to help a bit.
First thing I do is a good pencil drawing, then I ink that. What I do when it comes to coloring my drawing is I make marks with a pencil where I want my highlights to be. When I am coloring I choose 2 or 3 pencils that make up the color I want. First I shade in the darker of the colors lightley. Then on the last color which should be the lightest of the two or three, i color it heavily which kindof smears the colors to create kind of an oil look. Then I go back over the top of it with either a white or a dark shade of the color to add the shadows and highlights. thats about it. I don't know it this helps but thats the best I can do.

Thanks that does help a lot, but what do you use to ink and what parts do you ink, like just the outline of the car or what, sorry if I am asking too many question but I'm curious

we got some artists up in here. RPS13, or anybody, when you do reflections and rendering, do you have a pic or do you just kinda BS it and work with the countours a lil. besides, that, i just need to work my 'vision'. it takes me forever to get things the way i want them. im new to this whole art game, so here is my only thing that is not on lined paper.

Your not asking too many questions. thats what this is all about. I ink the outline, most of the black parts except for the tires and I ink the chrome reflections as well.

well its been a very long time time since i posted anything here so ill go back on past ground...and throw in a couple of new ones for good measure.
this is a ford streen ka. i messed up proportions and perspective a little, but it dont matter much. completed summer 2003.
http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=503/62166small.JPG
i entered the first (and only) monthly drawing comp on here where we had to basically copy a photo. i never bothered with making the background look good, but the car is fine if a little too light in general. summer 2003

ok, now a couple of non car related things.

That looks awesome.
I have to ask. Did you use ellipses for the rims?
alfred
Yes. I usually don't use ellipses just because it takes away from the handrawn look. But I used them on this because I wanted it to look really graphic since I was using it as part of my logo.

That's cool.
I use ellipses too.
I also use french curves. Over break I did a drawing of a 350Z w/o any tools like ellipses but I think I left that in Germany with my brother.
I think I will have to try drawing more cars w/o tools. All my drawings start out free-hand a grids but then I go over them with curves and such. I read in the Artist magazine that one should do a lot of free-hand sketches often to improve drawing skills. I am going to try that.
Thx
Alfred

The skulls are on a sweatshirt I airbrushed, the guy in the roadster is a friend of mine, the gorilla lookin one in the bottom corner is me, the rest are just this-n-that.

ilov2xlr8, awesome hotrod Daaang can't believe that is your 2nd color work, cool holmz.
Kartoonz and elroyj25, you guys airbrush, that is cool. I bought an airbrush book and read it about 3 times but never bought a brush. You guys have some good imagination, something I don't have.
Tell me; is the key to airbrush detail and control mostly in the masking?
It seems airbrushers have to do a lot of masking?

For t-shirts and license plates and stuff I don't mask anything. I just do everything freehand. It sayes time. With automotive stuff though, masking comes into play more.

The lincoln was a quickie drawn with a pencil , then black pen outlined , scaned, and painted with corel draw, took a few hours ..simple but fun . With my airbrushing all my work is done freehand t-shirts and vehicles , I just mask when doing graphics or flames .
