It's like this, there is two cars. the i.6 sohc, efi 4 door automatic tranny and a 2 door 1.6 sohc, twin cab 5 speed manual transmission. The idear is to swap transmissions, making the auto into a manual and vice versa.
I think the swap is possible, but would like to know if all connection are possible. For instants:
mounting positions interchangeable?

Would the swap affect starting ignition. Nomally automatic shift position controls the ignition start. Would this affect the manual converted to auto? (would there be multiple connections)

Would the Speedmeter reading be affected?

Indash instruments interchandable and is connection the same or available for conversion (would there be multiple connections)?

I read that the 4 door had a wider body, would this be a problem?

There is an issue of oil cooling and the radiator might need to be swap also. Other that radiator any thing else would have to change.

There is some rumors about brake. Any comments on that?

You help is greatly appreciated.

mounting positions interchangeable?

-yes, but mounts will have to swap

-you just put a shifter and linkage wher the old shifter console was, and vice versa. the guage clusters will have to be swaped so the P R N D S 2
lights will work.

Would the Speedmeter reading be affected?

-no, the speedometer is only effected if bigger tire or what not is changed, or the speedometer cable, or spindal has gone bad.

-Yea, the auto shifter console will snap into the guage cluster

I read that the 4 door had a wider body, would this be a problem?

-same motor, same tranny, possible the mounts will be different though.

There is an issue of oil cooling and the radiator might need to be swap also. Other that radiator any thing else would have to change.

-umm, I dunno. I never swaped mine and it has just under 500,000km on it.

There is some rumors about brake. Any comments on that?

-I swaped my brakes to ITR 5-lug, so I dunno. I wouldn't think so though.

-the axle will need to be swaped, and may I add that I would rebuild them before I did. Go to FAQ page and it will help bunches...
