HOw to become a mod

The AF Team has compiled a list of new moderators (almost 20!).

Official announcement along with the promotions will be made on Thursday.

This was posted for this week. Im just curious how they pick them. Do they watch people and then choose those with the highest post count and best/most responsible attitude?

I'm not sure, but i know it has nothing to do with post-count.

Seriously though it does have a lot to do with attitude and how responsible someone is. It has nothing to do with high post counts.

I'll vouch for the post count having no merit, I was promoted after having 50 or so posts.

My commiserations to those so selected or currently in the active roster... Always preferred to be a participant who could 'bend the rules' rather than a referee... (just be glad you never marked me in soccer or had the misfortune to be batting at cricket when I was in the fielding side...)

An what makes you think we can't or don't bend rules? Oh wait I know why. We make them up as we go to suit us. yea that's it :devil:

Usually someone will contact you. As always letting a mod know you're interested helps, but like once every 3 months is sufficient. Generlly though those who stand out are the ones who have something viable to input instead of posting meaningless tripe.
I mean lets face it, 80% of the posts in O/T are about as usefull as tits on a bull. Humm l like that annalogy. I must use it more often.

Post counts, trolling, and spouting off won't get you anywhere as mentioned.

Presuming of course my learned friend, Razor that you have to be in some ways impartial, fair and just with some self-regulation via your peers. This operates to a less extent with us plebs.


Now there are always going to be exceptions to the rule... for every Heep or Snowie we get a Taranaki and then there re are the learned plebs like Yogs who don't aspire to be mods...

Reply to Dayna - I think it's because I speak like that (ie large vocabulary), I once trained as a journalist/writer and because I'm older than your average AF user.

Being brought up before SMS when letter-writing was an art form and liking crosswords gives you a few more to play with.

Plebs = plebeian, as in common people, based on a Latin word. ;)

"Plebs" is also a word unto itself that means essentially the same thing.
