94 Trans Sport power windows electrical problem

I have a wierd problem with my Trans Sport. The power windows will go down but not up. Sometimes if I slam the drivers side door *just right* it will fix the problem for a short period of time. The window switch on the passenger side does not work at all and neither window switch on the driver side works (expect to go down and occasionally up).

Has anyone else had a problem like this? Could this be due to a faulty connecter under the dash (I checked the ones in the doors).

This is almost exactly the same problem I'm having. This is also my first experience with this site. I've been told by several auto shops that my window relays are going bad and need to be replaced.
However, the dealer can only order the relay with the motor. That's around $750 with installation. He said he used to be able to get just the relay, but can't anymore.
I had to check with numerous junk yards to find someone who had any relays (with the motor). One place has them for $25 each and an auto shop will install them for $50. Can anyone tell me if there is some way I can get just the relays? Anyone know of any recall or anything like that. I can't find any, but I'm new at this.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Well I dont know about any relay - according to the 'typical wiring diagram' in my haynes book there is no relay. If you mean the window switch (actually its the power-door-lock and window switch) which is in he armrest of the drivers and passenger door I found them for say at GMPartsDirect.com, Parts number: 10221254 (Drivers side which is both windows and the power door lock) for $36.81 and 14098916 (Passenger Side) for $12.66.

I had the same problem on both sides at different times. Both times I replaced the window motors with $37 aftermarket units and it fixed the problem. You will have to drill out the rivets holding it in. I installed with bolts and nuts.

I have similar problems. After constant slamming the door, it eventually gave out and the windows stop working altogether. The problem in my case, was a break in the ground and power wires located between the door and the chassis.

Open the rubber sleeve located in the door jam and check to see if you have any broken wires. It's a simple 10 minute fix. I stripped the wires, reconnected and taped it with electrician's tape. Windows have been working fine ever since.
