air bag

Ok here's my ? When I bought my truck 00 silverado the old owner had a cell phone screwed to the air bag on\off switch and the blank piece beside it. I found the two pieces from the same year in a wrecking yard very easy to pop in and out now my ? if I unplug the back of the air bag switch to replace it will it set the bag off or will I have to take it to the dealer to readjust anything in the bmc Thanks..
