COMPLETED: Subaru

I posted in-progress shots of this one a loooong time ago, and here it is, finally finished: Hasegawa's 1/24 scale Subaru 360.
The kit went together nicely, although I did have some problems fitting the windshield, which attaches from the outside. I also skipped the ill-fitting windshield wipers, although I'll probably dig some replacements out of my parts box at some point.
I couldn't resist painting it "WR Blue Pearl," the color Subaru uses on its WRC rally cars. (It's also quite common on street WRXs, etc.).
It's a bitty, bitty little model.
Hope you like it!

It's inescapably cute, that's for sure. Great build, but of course I expect nothing less from someone with your standing in the modling community. ;)
What's the chance you could get Gerald Wingrove to post a few pics? :grinno:

Nice build, i agree with ratdat one of these with the traditional gold wheels and subaru rally livery would be cool, certainly be a talking point in anyones show case, awesome 10/10

Looks very good. I love the color of the paint. I never knew Subaru made cars like that.

That's a cute little bugger! The covered headlights are better than the nasty looking things they used on the US versions...those were pretty homely looking for sure! Isn't this the car that Malcolm Bricklin originally imported, bringing Subaru to the US for the first time?

Thanks!
Here's a good comparison -- I put it next to my Mk. II Jaguar.

That model doesn't do it for me, I just can't get a good feel for building it. I bought every Subaru model I can get my hands in the last couple years just so I could have a full collection of built Subies. Still working on building them.

Hey Bob!
You're right, the 360 was one of Mr. Bricklin's first auto-related efforts. The little monsters didn't sell well in the states, and Subaru's build quality was pretty notorious, too.
I worked on Subaru of America's owner magazine (Drive) for a couple of years, and I know from first-hand experience that the company would really like to forget about the 360. It's not exactly a high-water mark of automotive engineering.
Here's a rear shot. Lots of cooling slots for just two cylinders, don't you think?
