The RB25DET is the SR's bigger brother.

Not really, one was in a Silvia, and the other was in a skyline, that's like saying the B16A is the H22A's little brother.

The b16 and the h22 are different from each other becuase you have high-revving, low-displacement VTEC versus a much bigger, much torquier engine. The SR and the RB, on the other hand, are much more similar; they're both twin-cam turbos. The RB just has more displacement and more horses.

What do you guys think..... B16a or GSR i have money for either i want to turbo it so whats better? i want the most bang for my buck id go with the gsr but i can trade my buddy my old d15 turbo setup for a b16 motor with an ls tranny. would that be good or should i go with GSR turbo? i know the LS has long gears good for turbo...

long gear....thats just a myth

If you really want to go turbo, forget both the GSR and the b16 and go with the b18b1. It's the sturdiest engine for turbo apps, plus it's cheaper than the other two. You're also right about the longer gear ratios on the LS tranny that would help spool the turbo, and the b18b1 can handle 10-12 psi on stock internals with most turbos. The B16 and B18c1 can typically handle only 6-8.

yeah i am planning doing Ls swap next 1 or 2 years i'll go turbo then it should be around mid 12s

like i sad, the long gear ratio of trannys is just a myth, a turbo will spool depending on the motor set up, and HP out put all depends on the power band, and turbo tuner knows this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually no, it isn't a myth, tranny gearing has everything to do with acceleration, powerband dictates hp output, not the other way around. If you take two B16A's and boost them with he exact same setup the one with the shorter gears is going to be faster.

Whatever, both of those motors are great for turbo applications, and will be much faster when built right. And LS's cost about the same as a B16A.
