Speedo And Tach Question

Maybe Someone Can Help Me I Have A Problem, I Have A 1990 240sx Sohc, And I Bought A Jdm 180sx Cluster (tach Goes Up To 9000). I Also Bought A Harness For A Digital Cluster From My Nissan Parts Dealership. I Hooked Up The New Harness, Plugged The Cluster In And Everything Works But The Tach. Now My Question Is This, If I Put The Sr20det Swap Into The Car And Change The Engine Harness, Will The Tach Work?

The reason why the tach wont work is because the 180sx has an sr engine and you need an sr ecu. Right now you have a sohc ecu and engine. I done this before when I tried to put a cluster from a sohc to a dohc car...tach didn't work. Hope this help

The signal that the SOHC motor puts out can't be read by a DOHC tach. So yeah, when you get an SR20 then it will work.
