rear strut problems

I just got a 2000 Taurus SE with 100k miles on it. Driving over some bumps there is a noticible clunking sound coming from the back of the car. I'm assuming it is a strut problem but don't know much about these cars & have never tried to replace struts on a taurus. Anyone have suggestions about my diagnosis? Is it hard to remove the rear struts? I know a spring compressor will be required but are there any other issues or surprises I should know of?

I have a very similar rear strut problem like yours, I know it is in drever side. The price of strut cost around $40, and probably I need change spring too.

Get a Haynes manual. You will need to take out the back seat and panel at the rear window to get to the top of the struts. Several sizes of sockets are needed. A breaker bar is handy as well a torque wrench. Spring compressor. WD40. Good shoplight for underbody work. Lots of time.
