Ok, my and my buddy went up to Holly Hill mall last weekend. Its where a bunch of cars hang out, talk shit, race for money, ect. We pulled up and AS SOON as we got out of the car a C-10 (dont know what year) said his car with only a straight six and a 3 on the column had 450rwhp. Another guy asked me if it was a 5.0 (what an idoit) and i simply pointed to the badges that SAY "5.0" on the side. :screwy: Then a guy with an eclipise (GS-T) asked me if it was a lx or GT, once again i pointed to the bottom where it said "mustang gt" on the side. The guy in the C-10 asked me if i wanted to race for $20, i said sure and we had three people follow us up to a spot where the is no-one around for miles and its a half mile straightaway. We pulled up even and a guy got in the middle of the road and did the whole fast and the furious thing, so we took off. On that launch that is THE MOST i've ever spun in my life. I punched it and about 40 feet later i was still going like 5mph :disappoin Anyday the dude in the truck did just the same (i dont know) and as soon as i slamed it in second i left the guy like he was sitting still. I could honestly say i beat him buy about 40 car lengths in about a half of a mile. So i slowed down and turned into a subdivision where a guy in a fixed up prelude was waiting, he told me he wanted to race and i said sure why not. So we had the guy in the truck follow us back and start us. He threw his arms down, and i took off with what i think is a great launch... i looked beside me and the prelude was spinning like a mother fu*#er, and still keeping up. I slammed mine in second right after he did and he just pulled away about two feet. So i thought well when i put it in third maybe i will gain on him, nope. He kept on pulling ahead threwout the whole race. Eventually i got up to around 3,500 rpms in 5th gear and he was still pulling :banghead: We get back to Holly Hill mall and i asked him to pop his hood. he said "i have a h22 motor that i swaped for the other". I saw a aftermarket intake manifold, cold air kit, header, and he had a aftermarket exhaust. Ok, WHAT IN THE HELL is an h22 motor, cause i want one (just kidding). But seriously does anybody know what kind of horsepower that dude is making. He's gotta be in the 13's. Oh and the guy with the C-10 said that he couldnt get his truck to go in 2nd gear, and he wants to race me again for more money next time. Some people just dont learn

h22 stock is 200 to 220hp with mods it will pick up fast. no shame in losing. I bet he had some cams or somthing to move like that though.

i have a h22 motor that i swaped

um the h22 is the stock motor, unless he got the h23 and put the h22 in. its a desent motor, but even with the mods you listed i doubt its in the 13's, maybe mid to low 14s.

Maybe he put the h22 head on h23, and would push over 220 and with the bolt ons maybe probly would be close to 250. but still wouldnt touch 13s

there is probably something else going on.
either your car is slow for some reason, or he had something special (N20, serious weight reduction, etc)

The H22 designates a 2.2 liter 16 valve engine with variable valve timing and variable valve lift. The H23 is a 2.3 liter 16 valve engine without variable valve timing nor variable valve lift. Putting an H22 head on an H23 block provides you with what essentially is half of a Ford Cobra engine ( 4.6 liters with 32 valves ). With a full replacement of the rotating parts, ( you eventually got to do it anyway because the engine consumes oil like a MoFo after 70K miles ) and an N20 kit and high octane gas, low 14s wouldn't be impossible

It was at my hometown track. But it was not that bad. This guy was my dads age and I grew up watching him race this ugly ass 74? pinto. It was faded blue with a primer hood scoop. On my first run on Friday test and tune this summer I pulled out of staging into the box and looked to the line and there he was. A standard burnout I stage, purge, greenlight, taillights. Dammit man. O yea, I forgot. This damn pinto had a Chevy 400, a 10pt cage, Ford 9 inch rear end, and wheele bars. This hybrid was still just as fast as it always was. The track was only an 1/8, I ran a 7.3 he ran a 6.5. What else could I do but laugh. I got waxed by a pinto.

That's classic parrish5o. Although, I'm sure you aren't the first Mustang he has beaten, not by a long shot :D

Do you know what he usually runs in the 1/4?

A 6.5 sec 1/8 mile time, is close to a very low 10 sec 1/4 mile time.

The only places I've seen him are the 2 local tracks in my area. One is the track I grew up at which is now closed with 25ft pine trees covering it, and the other is the new track built a few years ago. Both are only an 1/8.

I was at the NHRA drag races at Pomona (California) and saw a Pinto with a V-8 running 7's. It was pretty damn cool, but it was eventually eliminated by the crowd of Camaros running the show.

There's another car that stands out from my early years. I had a classmate in the 9th grade that worked at at junkyard, and we were always searching it for anything useful. We came across this old station wagon. It was a Madza, I think an RX3? possibly. When I looked under the hood I was baffled. What was that, I had never seen a rotary engine, and it had a turbo! It appeared to be in running order since all it was missing was a windshield and front fender. The following Sunday when they were closed we let ourselves in with a fresh battery, and a plan to somehow "get it running". All it took was to turn the key and it fired right up. The next few hours were the most thrilling of our lives. Neither of us were 16, had a license, or had ever even driven "unsupervised", much less at 125mph. Yes 125mph, this ulgy little Madza. It would top out at about 130 and not waste time getting there. This lasted 4 Sundays before tragedy. While cutting donuts in a field behind the junkyard, all of a sudden, boom. And that was the end of our little toy. There is sat 100 ft from where we found it, bleeding the blackest, thickest oil I have ever seen from a quarter sized hole on the bottom of that strange motor. I almost shead a tear walking home that day. I have never seen another one since then, talk about a sleeper. That car would outrun some stock Mustangs I know of. It was so ulgy there is no hope of making a cool car out of one but it would be fun to play with. If anyone has any idea what that was, and knows what I am talking about let me know, I would really like some info on what we found. I was only about 14 and was no expert but it looked bone stock, anyway how many performance parts were around for a Madza station wagon in 1991? So what did Madza make (it looked like a late 70s or early 80s model) back then that sounds like this?

It COULD have been a Mazda 323 station wagon. I know they turbo'd some of the non station wagon types, but I don't know if they did it with the wagons at all.

There are some pics of an '88.

That was close. It had that same basic body style, but it was way older. More like a 78. If I could find one now I think I would buy it. Not something to take to the shows but I could have more fun on that thing than my 5o. Ever gone 110 across a cow pasture? Guess we might do things a little different in the south. I will post a few stories of machines we have built over the years and you will laugh your ass off. Ever seen the Mad Max? Did you know you can roll a VW Beetle, hang in the 5pt harness, crawl out through the windows, flip it over and keep going? I once jumped my moms 1987 Cutulass Ceira the entire width of the road, on accident. I still have an indention on the top of my head from the button on top of my hat.

even though i love american muscle cars, i've always had a sweet spot for RX-7s. just something about them, i guess. doesn't help that i'm into anime a lot (see my sig =P). still, having an RX-7 as a daily driver would rule, in my opinion. then when i'm ready to hit the strip or the street races, bust out my notch =D
