Reprogramming a transmitter (remote)

I have a 2000 Galant and would like to know how to program another remote (transmitter). I have the remote and instructions, but they are a little unclear, especially when figuring out which place to put the 'jumper wire'.
We've followed the instructions, but blew a fuse.
